The press definitely has a Tory bias.

That doesn't excuse some of the conspiracy theory nonsense that Labour activists are coming out with And nor does it excuse their treatment of Corbyn as some untouchable perfect diety.

It's very unhealthy. In fact it's how every single dictator in history has come to power.

Yup cant agree more, his left leaning traits and policies are a breath of fresh air however after the decades of tory lite nu labore. Theres now an actual difference between the parties.

Ok, i am going to bite...

so your original argument has now changed, you couldnt win/prove that one, so you are now moving onto another one?

Ok, lets go along that route then if you wish...

now your argument is not with what was said, but whether i believe the statements that Corbyn has supposed to have made?

which are the official statements of which you speak? you provided a link from Labourlist? is that the official statement to which you refer?

in my opinion Labourlist has no loyalty to Corbyn, they are from the Blairite fraction of the party, so nope, i dont believe anything that they print, now if it was from the actual Labour Party, of course i would believe that.

please state which individual statements you refer to and i will answer whether i believe its a true account of what he said or not..

it usually is though..

No. My original argument has not changed.

Let me make this very clear. You were arguing that Corbyn did not say that Castro was a champion of social justice.

It is a fact that he did say that. It was published in an official statement released by Corbyn after Castro's death.

You tried to claim that because he didn't verbalise his statement, then there is no proof he said it. You then said that because there is no proof of him 'putting pen to paper' you cannot believe what is published as an official statement is actually an official statement.

So I will ask you again - do you think his statement, published by major newspapers and the bbc 'http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-38117068' was incorrect, and not what Corbyn said?

It is a simple yes or no answer.

That's the trouble with his "followers", they're blind to any criticism of the man and treating him like some sort of God or saviour. And if they don't like anything said or written its some sort of media conspiracy or fake news against him from "The Establishment".

That is definitely a problem for him. It alienates him from the electorate, and although I think he enjoys it, he also knows the dangers of the cult of the personality. This is why I think he isn't supporting the head of momentum in his bid for General Secretary, and is backing Jenny Formby instead.

As far as Castro goes, can someone find me a reasonable link where I could follow up on the allegation he executed men for being gay? I know that Cuba was an immensely repressive regime when it came to enforcing norms of all kinds, but I was under the impression that two things happened as a result.

The USA recruited gay and lesbian Cubans into their war clandestine war against Castro (which included blowing up airliners), and the Cuban regime progressively softened its stance on gay and lesbian people - although today it is still far from liberal as we would recognise it.

I don't know if you consider Pinknews a reasonable link.

https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2016/11/28/this-is-how-fidel-castro-persecuted-gay-people/

Castro set up 'Military Units to Aid Production', which were 'labour' camps where he sent conscientious objectors, gay people, jehovah's witnesses amongst others.

It is estimated that from the 35,000 internees, 72 died from torture, and a further 180 committed suicide.

I think most of that is a matter of public record. I inferred, incorrectly perhaps, from " ... even though Castro executed people for being gay?" that there had been some sort of execution squad or policy.

Not that it would have surprised me tbh.,

What continues to surprise me is many normal, rational people (including my friends) holidaying in Cuba like it was france or crete or something.

Brits used to love visiting The former Yugoslavia, totally oblivious to the impending racially motivated carnage. I actually know people that visit Turkey, without recognising it as an Islamic country, perhaps they don’t know that Spain is Roman Catholic, they most probably have never heard of Batista and Che Guevara.

Other than having the word "labour" in one of them, what do the last three posts have to do with the Labour party? I came here expecting repetitively tedious party political posturing, not repetitively tedious posturing on a dead Cuban leader

Although, seeing as it has been raised, I would hazard a reasonably comprehensive school educated guess that the majority of people, normal, rational, or otherwise, who visit foreign countries for their holidays couldn't give a toss about it's religion or politics, and go there for the likelihood of a bit of sun and relaxation, not to make a banal political statement

Cuba is expensive though compared to it's hemispheric neighbours. Not only do they charge more money, but the food, and customer service, on the all inclusive dollar resorts is said to be rubbish compared to neighbours such as the firm historic US ally Dominican Republic. People, especially Canadians, do go to Cuba just to sock it to the United States.
