jezzyjj
Surely the roundabout to the east is norton roundabout as what village is it just down the road from, norton. My partner grew up at this end of town and went to school up here when it was rowlinson and jordanthorpe and has never heard of the roundabout been called rowlinson roundabout before, he says that one is norton roundabout as its on the way to norton and the other one is meadowhead as it is at top of meadowhead.According to Google maps just about anywhere in Sheffield is in Norton. SHYTOT
I always knew it as four lane ends. With Brocklehurst Motors where the filling station now stands. The cross Roads was where Norton Lane crossed Chesterfield Road and when the roundabout was built it became referred to locally as Norton Roundabout as it stood alongside the Norton Pub. The other roundabout is a more recent addition. It stands besides Jordanthorpe House and has been known as Jordanthorpe Roundabout for as long as I can remember. daveyt2
There are a lot of "Four Lane Ends" about! Probably hundreds, if not thousands. There must be more than a few place names with the word Norton in them too.

Interesting! Not sure where this list came from but whoever compiled it seems to have overlooked the fact that although the 25 and 25A services to/from Bradway don't run after 19.00, or at all on Sundays, the 53 is extended to Bradway to make up for it. This may explain why at least one or two 53's have not run through to Bradway - although SYPTE and First say they should have!

I've been ticking off the diversionary route this week (not intentially as some kind of sad hobby, just been doing stuff after work every night and travelling home later than normal!). Monday got 25 to Bradway which ran via Beauchief and Greenhill Tuesday got 53 to Bradway which did the same as the 25 but via Lowedges rather than Greenhill Parkway. Wednesday got 53 to Bradway which went via Meadowhead, Norton, Jordanthorpe, Bowshaw and Lowedges.
Jeffrey Shaw
I tried to drive down the A61 from Chesterfield Road towards Chesterfield last week, found the roundabout closed southwards, and had to follow a bizarre forced left-turn diversion via areas that I never even knew existed- until, fortuitously, I found a lone signpost ushering me back to the A61 further down. Grrrr....

Grrrr.... Or, to put it another way, you followed a diversion that got you to where you wanted to be. The diversion that was in place was the quickest and shortest route past the roadworks. What more could have been done?
