  1. i guess that is becoming more & more true. i do find it pointless to have a "soft" degree in some subjetc or other & then try to use it obtain a job as chemist or similar & being disappointed when you don't get the job. however in my case i have no use whatsoever for a BEd in Maths, but have always used it to promote myself.
  2. if they wait 'til after the buyout the claim may not be transferrable, hence the delaying tactics.
  3. was that her with the big beehive hairdo??
  4. whilst presenting yourself for a job position after attaining a degreee - the ability to study and gain experience is just as vital as the degree itself in a lot of cases. the achievement, dedication & perseverance required are valuable character traits that should not be ignored when interviewers mention "what does your degree bring to our company?"
  5. agree fully with that. my niece is at uni with a girl who is from a single parent home, her mum earns in excees of 30k per year.however as a single parent she is not expected to contribute to tuition fees. my sister(nieces mum) & hubby earn less than 30k joint and are expected to fund all tuition fees. the stories are endless, ex forces with undeclared 100k in bank - declared self employed @ 10k per year so no fees to pay.
  6. me neither. is does appear however from my restricted view that the people who use it to make them happy, tend to be able to afford it or are just exploring it. people who fall into the unhappy category are the one's who fall into crime - or is that too much of a generalisation? if it makes u feel nice - why is that long term use makes people look like **** & feel like **** afterwards.or is this a generalistaion ?
  7. thats good 'co so is ours. 8.15 again this friday. if u do want a game or 2 just pop along, can pm my mobile if u wish.
  8. please make it legal & protect me from all the street crime & burglary that i am subjected to. why legalise it? should we not be looking at stopping the addiction in the first place."social" users like people on the forum apparrently have no problems with their own drug use. but then again who would admit to being an addict in the first place? so to them it could be an issue of human rights/personal choice etc.which i agree with. however the amount of money spent on drugs because people need them to help relieve their conceived problems far outweighs the spend on social drugs. the root cause for drug introduction should be the target. we'll be legalising underage sex soon,we all knoe someone who's done it & they aren't a threat to society etc etc. in fact lets legallise everything, get rid of the police & live in a state of complete chaos.
  9. had a range of fiat started with 126, then panda, then 2 x uno's followed by a punto. cant recommend them highly enough - as a small car they are very reliable & we never paid for more than tyres on all the cars we owned. direct cars are doing brand new city rovers @ 3999 at the moment. & the kia picanto which is a very nice car is again less then 5k. i've got an excellent suzuki juimny convertible for sale @ 4k which far outshines any of the above , but they dont suit everyone.
  10. yep u wanna see the length of the poo from that one. bin bags for pooper scoopers.
  11. my garage is a 16ft long lounge, with a 10 foot office followed by a 9 foot "dog" room. we used it as a garage for about 3 years then gradually converted it.
  12. just to update based on the im bored section. i have emailed Geoff , i have used a company previously for similar items. for reasonable quantities i.e 1k i could probably get them for well under £1, however it would be nice to "donate" some to the site, so we could sponsor a banner or whatever.
  13. well i've just been in, & its the busiest i've seen (excluding first day or two). way busier than the other one ever was.
  14. probably so. when they stopped selling bio diesel @ tesco's they had a drop in revenue, but the slack was taken up eventually on other products. it will have a similar but slower effect in pubs, by the time my niece is old enough to drink(she's 2) every one will have forgot about the great smoking ban.
  15. but the Irsih scenario hasn't collapsed. there are already more & more pubs benefitting from a no smoking policy. however by allowing smokers into public houses you deprive me of the option to visit the same pubs as you. perhaps if i had a weatherspoons nearby iwould have used its facilities, but as the nearest is woodseats it's not where i would want to go for a meal. i have a no smoker @ Ridgeway.
  16. where/what you moving too.? congrats by the way.
  17. baan thai do have thier own car park @ the rear.
  18. i never had any choice - it was either don't go to a pub or restaurant or dont go to a pub or restaurant. in the last two years we have removed 10 eating establishments from the list of frequented pubs 'cos they allowed smoking.1 made one exception & asked to be reseated 'cos we were part way thorugh our meal, previously we have up & left the pub/restaurant. so if you multiplied 10 restaurants by the number of family members 26,(actually 24 'cos 2 of them smoke) = 240 meals & drinks that we won't be having at the said pubs.that is if we all only ate out at each place once a year. as we have 26 birthdays every year + 8 anniverseries =34. so potentially 8160 meals & drinks that were taken to non smoking pubs etc. if i offered 1 pub all our services as a family for 2 years to ban smoking, against one person drinking 6 pints a week whilst he/she smokes, the pubs may view things differently.
  19. has anyone ever worked for them? i know people who use them for car finance but wondered what they were like as an organisation.
  20. there are a number of active lodges including one @ Treeton MW on Tuesday evenings. similarly there is also one & Staveley & a number stiil active in sheffield. Contact the head office for active lodges. the rehab hospital & main plain in Harrogate is still very much active, we visit every for the annual fete/gala fund raiser with the "in laws" who are active lodge members.
  21. went for valentines. tables were a bit cosy but that was probably due to the day itself. food was excellent, service was good & we had a set menu @ £20 per head. no real dress code some were there in designer jeans others in trousers or dresses. hope u enjoy it.
  22. about same as mine. obviously certain fire, straighteners, hair dryers do add to the bill.,as much as some latge appliances.
  23. well thats something i never knew. every time i get points in sheffield(admittedly not banned) i have had to post the licence to swansea for them to add them.
  24. to have points added you have to send it to dvla - the courts will usually impose the ban.at whcih point the dvla will withhold your licence. its not illegal to drive without a licence in your possession, its illegal to drive whilst banned(obviously).
  25. any of Ian Rankins - usualluy Rebus novels. Kathy Reichs better in print than the tv. Patricia Cornwell - especially early stuff. Blowfly & trace read like & James Bond novel.
