  1. Thanks for the reply Harvey. Was there housing there on Binsted Road before the Prefabs do you know?
  2. Our friend has a 6 year old Jack Russell and had suddenly started attacking other dogs and people. Does anyone know of anyone skilled enough to help? Many thanks
  3. You could try WEA. Just google it and you will find they do lots of language courses. Also you might find that the Universities do short courses. Or of course if you prefer to work alone at home there is ICS or other distance learning colleges.
  4. Thanks, that's good to know. Guess after the war there were lots of Prefabs about.
  5. Broomhill vets have a dog behaviourist you could try. Our friend is about to use them for her Jack Russell that is getting aggressive.
  6. We live at the Binsted area of Southey and wondered what used to on that land before all the houses were built and flats and what's it's history. Would be great to see photos if anyone has them. Many thanks
  7. I bought a Toshiba laptop from Staples in Sheffield 2 years ago and it is still working perfectly.
  8. We bought a Compaq Presario from Comet 2 weeks ago. It is great for the money apart from the touchpad being a bit sticky but i think i am just unused to a matt touchpad. It had 2GB Ram and 250GB HD and a webcam and microphone and decent speakers all for £350.
  9. a nice idea but gerbils should not be put in hamster cages
  10. We bought an ordinary kennel for our cat from Tinsley sheds and it was very sturdy. We left some food in each time we went out just in case Jacob came back, but of course we monitored it so that it wasn't going to foxes, by not leaving it at night. When we no longer had a garden we garden we gave the kennel to our friend's dog and it still is in good condition. So they last ages if you treat the wood.
  11. Poor you Bonny. If you are writing a letter to the HMRC then make sure you are sending it to the exact office that deals with it. My partner had to send hers to the tax office near the agent's main office in Coventry. Your agent will know. It is awful that you have to write the letter in the first place. When you are ill and have problems you don't want them adding to your list of problems. Best of luck with it and let me know if you need any advice.
  12. Carphone warehouse have sometimes got some good deals especially on higher spec netbooks. Guess you already tried Currys, Pcworld, Comet etc.
  13. Mine was a Persian cat called Tara when i was 3
  14. We are always getting the Jehovahs people round here. We try not to answer the door. I am sure they target poorer areas
  15. HI Bonny, Really sorry that you have become the latest victim of Direct payments. My partner used to have Direct payments and had exactly the same problem as you. But in the end was told that it was not taxable. I wonder who your agent is? My partner used to deal with Penderels and they were an absolute nightmare! Last year after the previous year my partner had ended Direct payments she got a tax bill for £500! We paid it as they made threats to us but in the end they refunded us as it was horrid mistake on their part. It just made us feel that even if we needed the help in the future we wouldnt accept it from Direct Payments. Hope you can get this solved. You should try ringing the tax office in Bradford. You might have more luck.
  16. Yes Cafe Ceres is nice if you like an intimate atmosphere with soft music and nice French food.
  17. Oh really sorry. That's awful. Have you rang round the rescues? Try asking Jediwarrior on here. Hope that you have some luck.
  18. I would recommend Bio Catolet cat litter. Its made from 100% paper and is dust extracted. Thats what we use with our rats. Its very absorbent and good for rats that like to dig too. A lot of rat owners use it now. It can be bought from many supermarkets and Pets at home online. It generally costs about £4.88 for 12kg.
  19. No they are fine to eat sunflower seeds but they are fattening. Our gerbils have them but are not given too many for this reason.
  20. Voted for Evie. Yes true there are some lovely pics on there
  21. Just don't ask for a chicken cesaer salad from there as the chicken is dried up rubbish. I wouldn't feed it to the cat.
  22. Hi Diesel, Really sorry you are anxious and have the wait for the test results. I had the same thing happen to me 10 years ago. I went to see a Specialist for a suspected stomach ulcer and he noticed some marks on my legs when he examined me and thought I had Cushings syndrome. He referred me to an endocrinologist who sent me for an MRI brain scan, which takes about 15 minutes, then I had to wait about 2 months for the results but it might well be much quicker now. Cushings syndrome is a tumour of the pituitary gland, which might well need surgery or maybe medication. Anyway I was told I had a tumour of the pituitary gland but not cushings syndrome but that it was benign. I then had to see the specialist every year as it didnt require surgery or medication as it was not presenting any bad symptoms. To cut a long story short I moved to Sheffield and they redid my MRI scan and they told me I didnt even have a pituitary tumour! I was relieved but so annoyed that Chesterfield had got it wrong. What I would say to you is try not to think the worst before you have got the results. Difficult I know as the longer the wait the more you worry but even if you have a pituitary tumour it is more likely to be benign and nothing to worry about. Hope you get the results soon. Best of luck
  23. Tankersley Manor is very nice. 4 Star and they have their own restaurant. Stayed there last year and was welcomed to the hotel by a porter who carried our bags to our rooms and explained all about the hotel. Not too expensive either.
  24. Don't know of anywhere in Sheffield but Ebay is usually the best place to sell unusual things.
  25. Thanks everyone for the ideas. I will have to go to those. I have been to Elsecar Heritage Centre in Barnsley today as this weekend they have a Mind Body and Spirit Fayre. It was extremely busy and had a few crystal stalls but i didn't really find the crystals i wanted. I saw a stall with Rose quartz lamps and they looked fantastic but will have to save up for one of those.
