  1. Dog fouling is a real pain for anyone but my partner is blind and steps in it all the time for obvious reasons.
  2. I think castle Market has them on certain days.
  3. I think being a CBT therapist is a good line of business in this climate as people are getting very stressed.
  4. Sorry to hear about your predicament with MIL etc. Have you contacted the Sensory impairment team at the local council? You should ask for a referral from them and then they should be able to help your MIL and in turn help you and your family. Caring is exhausting and you should get the help you need. Hope this helps.
  5. I've tried acupuncture, which might have been fine but I itched like mad afterwards. I have taken a course in Reiki and the self healing aspect has really helped me. I have also tried herbal remedies and bach flower remedies but I don't like the fact that they use alcohol in them.
  6. I have an underactive Thyroid and suspiciously it came about after having Glandular fever. I have had this problem for 12 years now.
  7. It might be better for your mum to get an assessment from the Physical disabilities team in the council. Ring Sheffield City council and say you wnat to make a self referral for a social work assessment and they will put you or your mum through. Good luck
  8. Just to say that I have been to see Em twice now (no we are not related and I am honestly seeing her for therapy) and she is warm, kind, genuine, sincere, non judgemental, honest, thoughtful and very easy to speak with about anything you want to discuss. Truly not shockable. She is very professional and also creative in her methods of help. She has always put herself out for me and gone to great efforts and has the flexibilty to change approaches if needed. I would have no hesitation in recommending her to anyone who needs help with diabetes or any other issues.
  9. Just done Reiki level 1 with Richard and are going to do level 2 with him in February. He is an excellent teacher, lovely kind man and he even taught my partner who is totally blind. And as I have ankylosing Spondylitis and can't stand for long periods of time ar stay lying down for long he had alternative suggestions for this which made me doing the course so much easier. He explains things so that you will be able to understand and because he is such a questioning man and he doesnt take things at face value you know he has researched it very well. He also gives after course mentoring for free so if you have any questions regarding what you have learned he is just a phone call or email away. Would definitely recommend Richard,
  10. Well done Moonbird and everyone else that has lost weight. It is never easy. I am trying to lose weight. I have lost nearly 2 stones since August by eating a vegetarian diet full of fibre and by exercising for at least 30 minutes a day by walking. I have been diagnosed with Prediabetes so I guess I was pushed to start acting. I get lots of cravings for sweet things and fatty foods but most of the time I don't act on them. I did however last night have some carob chocolate and I felt guilty the whole night! Being premenstrual doesn't help along with the winter weather. I always find I want stodgy foods at this time.
  11. Hi, Just looked at the cat in that thread and unfortunately it is not the same one. Terrible to know so many cats are missing.
  12. Hi Rita, Really sorry your 2 cats have gone missing. I do hope they come back very soon. I am afraid it won't be the cat we have been seeing as he is black and white near the Binsted area, Wadsley Thanks Rain, I know what you mean it is so upsetting about knowing that the cats have nowhere to go. The cat has not been back to us since and we did see him running along the path but he went so fast we could not get to him.
  13. Oh I see. Thanks. Well the No. 79 operates all night too with Stagecoach and that at the moment is the only route we do. But I can imagine that it would be frustrating and expensive if you caught the other buses.
  14. Thanks for the replies. Good idea the collar with the tag. I know what you mean about cats having homes and looking for others. A neighbour thinks he has a home but doesn't like the home he has. We will see if he comes back as he is well fed and in good condition. He is so loving and affectionate too.
  15. Thanks for the info. Does that mean those tickets are not valid in the evenings?
  16. I am looking for a female instructor who is calm and nice and that would just give me some driving confidence type lessons as I am going to get a car next year hopefully and I havent driven for a few years. I don't need to take a test as I passed that years ago.
  17. Yes caught this bus on Monday and it was almost empty going but I think you are right it will get better. I think it is a great bus route and prices are so cheap at £3 for a dayrider. Long may it continue.
  18. We have 3 gerbils in 2 different gerbilariums and were not planning on getting anymore pets at least until the gerbils were sadly no longer alive. The past few weeks a stray cat has jumped into our flat via the open window and he seemed hungry so we fed him and then he left and had not beeen back since until today when he jumped into our window again and we fed him again and he has so far stayed all day until now and he is still sleeping and doesnt want to go out again. He is a stray according to the neighbours and he sleeps under a bush at night but one of the neighbours sometimes feeds him. He has no sign of fleas. We are a bit scared about the cost of vets fees etc as we really did not plan on having a cat at least at the moment and also scared about the gerbils getting chased. We do love cats and don't want to see him come to any harm ie: cold and hungry. Any advice on our dilemna would be grateful. Many thanks
  19. Really sorry Guzzi. I can't imagine what you have gone through. I had no idea that people are dying so awfully of Diabetes either. Of course I know about the complications though. Thanks Plain talker. I will take a look at the GI diet. Can you reverse pre diabetes? It sounds like it might be a good thing. I managed to lose 2 stone in weight during the last 3 months due to cutting out sugar and and eating a vegetarian diet and also cutting down on saturated fat and exercise, 30 minutes walk each day plus some other stretching exercises for my back.
  20. Thanks Em, I will look at your website for tips. Will email you if I am still unsure.
  21. Hi Amy, Hi Em. A diabetes support group would be great. I have been told recently that I have impaired glucose tolerance ( a sort of pre diabetes). I have since lived as if I have diabetes with the same diet. I would love to know that there was a good website to give advice about diet.
  22. Thats very encouraging. Thank you. If anyone else has anymore comments I would love to hear them, Thanks
  23. I used to get a lot of panic attacks when I was that age but grew out of it. At the time I used relaxation cds alot and I would think that now CBT would help. Best of luck and hope she soon overcomes it.
  24. Our water In Wadsley Bridge is really bad. You can tast the chlorine and when you have a bath you smell like you have been at the swimming baths!
  25. My partner and I are thinking of making this Drs surgery our new one after being at Buchanan Road surgery for the last 3 years. Its nearer to where we live and wondered what people thought of the doctors at Palgrave Rd and if it was easy to see a GP of your choice and get an appointment on the same day if needed. Any useful advice grateful as we don't want to change surgeries to one that is not very good. Thanks
