  1. It is statistically likely to be, though.
  2. Is it correct that they have a 'blacklist'? I kept them talking on my doorstep for ages once (wasn't about to let them in, I didn't know them from Adam) and had tremendous fun quoting contradictory scripture at them, but sadly no-one has ever come back since.
  3. You're so old! No-one has anything to say to each other these days that cannot be conveyed via the medium of txt msgs, facebook status updates or three-letter-abbreviations LOL! If those fail one can also apparently encode one's entire personality by combining fashion labels. Bars have to play music at astonishingly high levels to cover the awkward silences that would otherwise ruin everybody's night. Since what I once knew as 'courting' has been reduced, seemingly, to the phrase 'Do you do a turn?' there is no need to provide an environment in which conversation can take place. Get with the program, daddio! (Sorry I can't be any help)
  4. Honestly the day I've had. It started off well when I found a penny on the tram, but then I lost a tenner at Meadowhall.
  5. And whatever energy you used to get the hydrogen ... There are genetically modified bacteria now that feed on organic waste and excrete petrol or diesel now. Very interesting. As for my dream car, I would have to say an Ur quattro, or a quattro sport.
  6. Two hundred million, three hundred thousand and five hundred friends? I wouldn't want to pay for that wedding. It has been suggested by Robert Dunbar that about 150 is the maximum number of people we can maintain relationships with. This figure is a function of the size of our neocortex.
  7. I quite liked the towers, but ultimately I wasn't prepared to pay towards their maintenance. I suppose Eon or whoever it was that knocked them down took the view that most of their customers and shareholders would rather they used their money for something other than preserving some large, useless relics. That said, now they know that piskeymax suffers mild, transient melancholy to come back from holiday and not see them, they might regret saving that million pounds per year, who knows?
  8. I thought ignosticism took the view that the question 'Does God exist' is meaningless, so I guess ignostics wouldn't have much to add to the debate.
  9. Which would make you more likely to make a claim, or to make a larger claim ... which is what I said From my observations I would say that in general 'modified' cars tend to be driven faster and later at night, which means that they are statistically more likely to be involved in accidents. I would guess that people who take time to modify their cars also probably tend to drive them more too, but that is harder to tell from observation. Note that I am talking about statistics, not individual cars or drivers because that is how your premium should be set. It would be nice if they could do it individually, but that wouldn't be insurance then, it'd be 'paying for your accidents in annual instalments'
  10. I liked the Ugly Beautiful album. Did they do any others?
  11. I 'modified' my car by putting Eibach lowering springs on it - although I did so only because they were half the price of the proper manufacturers ones. I told my insurance company and it didn't affect my premium - but then I'm an old fella. Your insurance is changed by anything that the statistics say make you more likely to make a claim, or more likely to make a bigger claim. I guess if you are young, putting stickers and other parephenalia all over your car do just that. With regard to people trying to make the base models look like the sports models, I think there is much more scope for mischief doing it the other way around. If I had a 318 I would not try and make it look like an M3, but if I had an M3 I'd definitely try and make it look like a 318. I wonder if it'd make my insurance less?
  12. Only if: a) I never bought anything (VAT) b) I had no saving (taxed) c) I had already had more value of treatment than I have paid for (which statistically, most of us haven't, and won't)
  13. I can see there is no point debating with you. The Crusades were fought under an overtly Christian banner. The Church exists solely as a means of making money from the gullible. I'll duck out now - there is nothing to be gained from discussing things with someone who is prepared to claim black is white for their own convenience.
  14. I wonder if we cold do a citizens version of this? The other week I was overtaken by a car exceeding the stated limit by, I estimate, 50%. It cut in to traffic as the road narrowed from 2 lanes to 1, causing three cars to have to brake as he forced his way in. To my (not huge) surprise, he turned in to the police station. I followed in my car, and when he stopped I asked if he was a policeman. I said he was. I told him that I thought his driving was appalling, and explained why. He told me to get a life. I wonder if he would have let me off with the same standard of driving?
  15. Last time I checked I was paying for the NHS. 'Free at the point of delivery' doesn't mean 'free.'
  16. So every first born male (animal and human) deserved to die - more so that those of any other race? It's a shame for them they were born a) in Egypt and b) before God decided to murder his own son so people could get away with their sins, isn't it?
  17. Yes, it does to some people. On the other hand, some people don't care. I guess if you debate such issues most responses will come from people who do care as the others will be doing something they do care about.
  18. Vauxhall should be able to provide one if he can prove he owns the car. It'll be pricey though.
  19. The bible seems quite clear that God sent the flood to kill everyone and everything apart from those on the Ark, that God killed the first born males in Egypt, that god killed Er, that God killed Job's children etc. The bible is also quite clear - as are you - that killing anyone, under any circumstances, is wrong. This presents something of a problem for the religious.
