  1. Oh for goodness sake! What a pathetic thing to say. He may (or may not) have had reasons for having to back out. And for someone who makes the remarks you make below, quoting the above is pretty hypocrtical. Why? Two pathetic things in one e-mail - well done. Are religious people doing you any harm? "I'd have them all banned" - how tolerant. Most of us are just living our lives quietly, trying to be good (and failing abysmally sometimes), being kind to others etc etc. It's not a bad way to live... No need to apologise to me love, you're the sad one...
  2. ..unless of course he's actually *seen* someone in S10 holding a banner saying, "We don't want it here, take it to Parson Cross"!!!
  3. O.K., let's look at the whole post.... "Masts are ok it seems on council estates - people who live there deserve the radiation but not in our posh areas....god forbid. I'd stick masts up all over Ranmoor, Tapton, Fulwood and Whirlow....." What exactly is he trying to say? People protest against masts that affect *their* area. Is he trying to say that they should go and protest against masts all over the city? People on 'council estates' are perfectly free to protest against masts in their own community! I'm just trying to work out how he reached the conclusion in his post.
  4. And I know where I'd like to stick one for such a ridiculous remark....bet you'd get good reception then..........
  5. Point me in the direction of it, I'll be there.......
  6. Er......no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't imagine anyone in their right mind would!
  7. I'd love to know if you're all blokes discussing this topic.."ooh, the car's faster", "ooh no, the bike." You're all so caught up in the thrill of things going fast that *no-one* has thought for a minute how bloody stupid it was to be going down Holme Lane at that speed and what could have happened if one of them had lost control or someone who'd just collected their kids from school at that time of day (I'm assuming you're talking pm and not am) had stepped into the road not expecting anything to appear at that speed. Let the silly sods kill themselves by all means, it's the innocent people they take with them that's the problem.
  8. It was pretty late at night and the baby was very young to be out. The girl said they took a £20 note which "she had in her hand to use the phone?" How?????????
  9. Wajid - just wondering why you left it 2 days and then rang back again with a different name in the first place? Were you hoping to catch them out? Incidentally if you want to accuse them of being 'byast/racist' you might want to spell it as 'biased'.
  10. Scottish Power??!! Just before Christmas a friend of mine had a guy turn up on her drive as she got back from picking her kid up from school. Started the hard sell & she told him it was a bad time as she was busy - she couldn't even get the kid out of the car as he was standing by the door. Started getting aggressive so she asked him politely to get off her drive. He started to go but told her she should be careful who she was talking to as he worked for 'the government'. At this point she laughed, he went ballistic and got his mobile phone out, saying he was ringing someone to come and sort her out. By this time the kid was out of the car and crying because she thought someone was coming to hurt them or take her mummy away. He was 'talking' to someone and said, "oh, you want to know her address, do you?" He looked at the house number and then said to her, "What road am I on?" Her answer was short and sharp and he was still ranting till he saw some other people he could hassle and went off. She was a bit shaken by this and asked around her neighbours, finding they'd had problems with him too. His name was Jamie and a fortnight after she reported him to Scottish Power they said they'd disciplined and re-trained him and that he'd wanted to come round and apologise in person!!! Yeah right, that would be a really good idea....sorry for the long post, just wondering if this is the same guy???? This happened in S10.
  11. They might be good at selling computers. Bloody awful to live near though...they dumped a crashed car outside my house for months on end. They were renting a house across the road which belonged to a friend of mine who was seriously ill. When she was finally cured and came back to it, you've never seen such a disgusting mess...................
  12. And remember we're not just talking about lecturers here. We're talking about all the support staff too - secretaries, technicians, etc. They're all paying to battle for the same few spaces. A lot of these staff have children to drop off and collect at the beginning and end of the day. The University of Sheffield's parking policy is *very* unsympathetic to the needs of part-time workers and those with children. I wasn't allowed a permit for some time, despite qualifying by distance from the university, until someone threatened them with legal action for discrimination, then miraculously I was told I qualified. Some students do seem to have parking permits - god knows how they get them or why they need them. I think they should ban student cars altogether like Cambridge. The vast, vast majority of them don't need them to travel to and from the university.
  13. Charity shops are a fantastic way to keep myself in the trashy novels I like to read for relaxation! Buy them at a small cost, read them, take them back and let them sell them again! Bit like a library, but with a charity donation thrown in. It's also great to know there's somewhere I can take my daughter's clothes and toys (all in excellent condition) and any other stuff, crockery etc. so someone else can buy decent stuff who maybe couldn't afford it new. Some of the rubbish people 'donate' does astonish me - broken toys and worn-out clothes are no good to anyone! I agree they're a hell of a lot more interesting than the *endless* mobile phone shops and opticians that seem to dominate the city centre. And not forgetting the important bit - they do raise money for whatever charity they're representing!
  14. We have a new postman in Lodge Moor this week - he looks about 12 and I've seen him wandering about looking lost with handfuls of mail. We haven't been getting our post till after 1pm and twice this week he's left stuff jammed half in and out of the letterbox. I rang the sorting office today to complain and they agreed he should know better. He also lives locally they told me, so they can't understand why it's taking him so long to deliver the post when he knows the area.
