  1. I used to go, there were crowds of us, had some fantastic new years and christmas eves there, we used it for all our celebrations, birthdays, leaving do`s etc etc, I left before it closed but cant imagine how everyone on that big hospital site socialises without a club of some sort!

  5. When I used to take children there in the 7o`s, from a childrens home I worked at it was a special school, it was a lovely place with a lovely atmosphere.

  10. OOH YES!!!!! we used to go at weekends and also have staff parties there, there was a pub opposite, cant remember the name but we used to meet in there before .
  11. I loved Hillards, I used to go with my mum every week, there was a free bus that took you and we used to look round the adjoining shop while we waited for it, it was like a day out!!
  12. New musical express. queing all night for david bowie tickets. hot pants. platform shoes. tues night at the top rank, wearing the hot pants and platform shoes! crazy daisy and geniveves. meeting friends by the fishtank at the hole in the road.

I used to go with my sister and a load of mates, lates 60`s, it was soooo cold, but we didnt care, we would take a sandwich and there was a cafe where you could buy an ice cream we used to go for the whole day, suncream??? oh no, olive oil to make us burn quicker!!! one day we burnt so badly I was sick and my sister burnt the soles of her feet and couldnt walk home. but still, happy days

  18. I remember those Tuesdays!! I had some blue hotpants and thought I was the bee knees. Thursdays were known as grab a granny night, the over 25`s!
  19. I can! I remember my dad taking us to concord park and we had a really good view from there of the M1

I remeber woolley woods and going for picnics and picking armfuls of bluebells, we used to take a picnic and our dog always used to come with us, he used to get scared of the noise from shardlows, a big booming sound and run home, we have always called the road at the bottom of the woods, "woolley woods bottom"!

I remember pond street nora, she used to scare us when she shouted, I also remember subway charlie, we used to walk through the hole in the road on the way to school each morning, late 60`s early 70`s, and he would nearly always still be asleep under a drinks machine,at the snig hill entrance.

  23. Hi, I also worked there till it closed, and many years before that. Most of the kids went to the Rivermead unit at the Northern General Hospital, or to Strafford house, a childrens home in Sheffield, or the a centre on Prince of Walses Road, cant quite remember its name. I cant remeber any kids going to Rotherham, but it was a long time ago. Maryjane
