  11. Does anyone remember Pete Leeming from BRW ? Pete was an TV engineer there I believe. If you visited their workshops, they had a steep driveway leading down to them. At the top of the drive was a sign saying "Sound Horn" always made me smile cos' some wit had written "yes thanks" below it.
  12. Whitsuntide made a fortune for us kids, late 50's I'd say. Mum & Dad would buy you a smart new outfit, and on Whit Sunday morning you would go round knocking on peoples doors, and when they answered you would tell them "I've come to show you my new clothes" and they gave you some money. Made a fortune, about 5 bob if we were lucky. Fond memories
  13. All toolmaking firms in Sheffield just about gone now. Stanleys, Ecclesfield & Rutland Rd Record Tools, Parkway & Meadow Street Spear & Jackson, Neepsend Jacobs @ Archer Rd And I'm sure there must be others I can't remember...... What a sad state of affairs..... we now import cheap tack from China instead of making quality goods on our doorstep. As far as I know, the only one hanging on is a division of Neill Tools @ Atlas North, Brightside. Criminal aint it ????
