  3. the reason the traffic was so bad yesterday was due to a bad accident on the m62 westbound jnc 22 to 23 both sides closed from around 3pm till late last night, so if you had gone on the m62 you would have been worse off, woodhead and snake and every route round that area were busy, the taillback on the m60 at one point was estimated at 20 miles, it uaually busy at that time but last night was exceptional.
  4. reynolds was signed by alan irvine in january before megson was appointed manager in febuary, so he could hardly have any argument with spurr, that came later.
  5. the old abbatoir site is at the manor end of cricket inn road opposite kiers site where the junction of manor lane, cricket inn road and worthing road meet and streched to where matalan and home bargains are now.
  6. the ikea store was proposed for the old abbatoir site on cricket inn road, the reason given for not allowing the store was because of traffic problems at the junction of cricket inn road, worthing road and parkway drive, the highways dept were not happy with proposed traffic easing plans put forward by ikea, as that junction is congested most days.
  7. if you read all the posts on this thread you will see that asda are to open a new store at the old stanley works next door to the hackenthorpe police station, they are just waiting for the owners of the units to find suitable alternative accomodation before work starts, tesco are still pursuing a new store at halfway next door to morrisons store, they have submitted revised plans to council for approval.
  8. hello herbie you actually worked with me then at sk, im phil, we led poor eddie a merry dance at times, and then we finished up with pete thomlinson as manager, thought he was bees knees, we soon brought him down to earth lol. my father in law worked for sk for many years, fred white, there was ann carr her father in law was also a grinder lol carr, jack froat also worked in grinders till his eyesight failed him and went into export packing and then joined us when pt merges both packing depts and the steel stock warehouse. as you said good times.
  9. if you moved into the area 27 years ago you actually moved to the area 12 months after crystal peaks first opened its doors to trade in 1984, i am a non smoker have never smoked and have no desire to smoke but if all the anti smokers get their way and a total ban on fags is introduced, then what worries me is what will the government do raise the shortfall in revenue. be very carefull what you wish for it can come back and bite your backside.
  10. have you not heard its all part of camerons big society, ita called do it yourself
  11. how would the frozen pipes at hillsbrough impact on the number of away games the owls have this month? and how would changing a home game for an away game help with the number of away games this month?
  12. the fact is the public transport system as it is currently operating could not cope with all the passengers who had suddenly decided to use a bus or train, i suspect a lot of people would use public transport if they could be sure they would be able to get to work on time, and return home in reasonable time scales.
  13. yes there would be a club to talk about but ask shots fans, if they had a choice of someone saving the club or scatching around for nearly 20 years which option would they prefer.
  14. would they be the extra large ones just caused a multi car pile up on moss way?

  17. a very close relation of mine works for home decor innovations and this propasal was given to thier workforce last november, the only thing that was a stumbling block for hdi was a suitable site to relocate the business.
  18. we had our photos done in crystal peaks at klick (max speilman) 5.99 each set with new regulation white background, took the forms to birmingham last wednesday and they notified us on friday that they were ready for us to collect, after reading all the disaster stories on the goa forums with visa problems decided to deliver and collect in person, personly we cannot fault the service.
  19. dont know that one but if the taxis are not allowed to drop off there, plenty of them are breaking the rules!!! but it does not alter the fact cp own and administer the bus station.
  20. the bus station closed late on monday 29th nov and the snow was not cleared from the the bus station until sat 4th december, and was not in service within 2 days, but this has not stopped shoppers going to cp there have been plenty in every day last week (i havnt walked so much for years) ps steve crystal peaks own the bus station not the bus companys or sypt
  21. crystal peaks bus station is owned and operated by the company who own the complex, not sypt, a few years ago my daughter had an accident in the bus station, the company and their insrurers were held liable for the accident, as a consequence part of the bus depot was resuficed with tarmac, and recently they have relaced some more with concrete, they had started to clear the bus station this morning(saturday).
  22. you have missed palmer and sheridan of this list, we also tend to forget fransis did bring in some quality players, walker, waddle and as metioned earlier the smallest 6' 4 goalkeeper ever woods, but as stated his man management skills left loads to desired, but dtill gave us some great memories.
  23. anybody hear radio sheffields interview with mr hulley just after six tonight, he claims he knows nothing of the takeover situation because he was in cannes and the newspapers were not available for 3 days, he has not had any conversation with his other cronies on the board for "a couple of weeks" the current situation is all the fault of the playing staff, not his doing at all, when the presenter started to ask questions with regard to the fact that surely the board have allowed this financial sitution to occur he denied any responsability and made hurried excuses to terminate the interview, the reason im stuck in a traffic jam on the outskirts of paris and cannot answer anymore of you questions. is this man one of these board members who want to take over the club, i for one hope not
