Meadowhead: Activity vs Inactivity..
Hinzy9 replied to Cyclecar's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
I could be wrong but it looks like they're also adding a 3rd lane to the exit of the roundabout heading east on the bochum parkway. i.e parallel with Norton lane near the Norton Pub -

If You Could Implement 3 Laws?

Well it's never happened before so I don't see that we need a new law to deal with it. -

Anybody caught hanging dog poo bags on trees, fence posts, gates etc should have their dog(s) exterminated on the spot. -

If someone was about to give birth then this would be classed as an emergency, which I have already covered. For a routine mid pregnancy check up then they should turn up early and take a ticket. -

Only people in full time employment can request an appointment for an NHS service (excluding A&E obviously). Everyone else such as the unemployed, students, senior citizens etc can use the NHS on a first come first served (deli-counter style) system. They will still receive the same standard of treatment but should expect a bit of a wait. This will free up appointments and make the appointments run to time, allowing tax paying employees to get back to work (funding the NHS) and at the same time improving national productivity. -
Officially it's open to cars as far as the snake pass inn but in reality you could drive all the way to the top. Not sure if you could get down into Glossop though as I only cycled to the top and back.
-
Reminder - the snake pass (a57) is impassable between us and Glossop due to road works over the coming 2 weeks. For anyone that fancies a nice peaceful lunch we can be reached via Bamford and will continue trade as usual! https://www.facebook.com/thesnakepassinn
-
Well the road is open to all traffic up to the snake inn anyway and its not much further to the top from there. I understand the roadworks are on the other side as you drop down into Glossop. If I have to turn back then I will, it's not a big deal.
-
Thanks for the heads up. I've cycled over from the Glossop side before but never from the ladybower side. Gonna give it a go later this week.

I remember going in there when I was about 10 and opening a Midland livecash account with £1. Got a free football and rucksack as well! Never used the account but bet my £1 must be worth at least £2 now! Can't believe it's closing, sad times.

Brendan Moore Seen him up at the driving range at Bradway a few times -
The gun position is only really used for the guys at the front that have a realistic chance of winning the race. For all other competitors it's better to use the chip time as this is the actual time it took all the competitors to complete the course, irrespective of the length of time it took them to reach the start line. "Say your gun position is 100 and chip position is 150; that means you overtook 50 more people, than who overtook you (e.g. you overtook 70, but 20 overtook you)." It's impossible to say....for example... runner (A) starts on the front row of a 10k race and he finishes with a chip time of 40mins. Meanwhile runner (B) starts right at the back and it takes him 5 mins to even cross the start line. Runner B gets a chip time of 36 mins but a gun time of 41 mins. In this scenario runner B actually ran the course faster and therefore would have a better chip placement than runner (A). However as runner (A) started at the front he would have had a better gun placement. At no point would runner (B) have overtaken runner (A) on the course, yet you could argue he had a better race. Hope this helps.

Sheffield Half Marathon now open for entries
Hinzy9 replied to SportsTrophy's topic in Sheffield Sport & Activities
Don't know how it compares to those but its 3 miles at an average of 4%. I've run it loads of times (but via whiteley woods, fordge dam etc) , it's never that steep but just a long drag.
