  1. Hi everyone, i'm trying to locate a Bill Mitchell who was from the Newcastle area I believe (or somewhere up there). He used to drink down the Cliffe and sometimes in the Stones' House at the side of Forgemasters on Brightside Lane IIRC. Any info appreciated.
  2. Remember it well. Our old youth club on the Herdings had a bloke called Roy Gall (may have spelled it wrong) who used to help run it and his daughter Susan worked there. Lovely bloke, think he lived above the bank adjacent to the cafe.
  3. I'm sure you will, that's your prerogative. I don't have the choice to listen to the games anyway as I'm not in the RS broadcasting area. It just annoys me that the Beeb are balancing the books by robbing Peter to pay Paul. Where else would you see a reduction, the clubs are getting stiffed by the BBC and I'd venture that quite a few local stations depend on the footy coverage. If they want to re-distribute the wealth it should be going the other way. All this money going straight into the players pockets, I personally find it shameful. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42873526
  4. Well, lets be clear, in the grand scheme of things, the income generated will be a pittance. Why should supporters of clubs outside the premier subsidise the premier players wages not to mention Linekers and Shearers wages. Football is awash with money and it's all going into one pot, which is the premier league. It's about time someone made a stand and I hope more clubs do the same. As for the cost of iFollow? It's 4 and a half quid a month, around a £1 a game, god you could buy some clubs for that. Is it any wonder southerners look upon us as skinners?
  5. Well done Wednesday, the BBC are screwing clubs outside the Premier League to pay for the increased costs of covering the Premier League. Fair play DC whilst all the others stand fort eggundertat.
  6. I think you're stuck with them when they are on loan. I reckon McCabes tried to send the prince back but he can't now, stuck with him. The prince isn't going anywhere until he gets his pound back.
  7. Swansea wouldn't pay his wages according to Nixon.
  8. He wouldn't do anything at WBA, fail miserably I think.
  9. Swansea will now sink into oblivion. They'll not see the premier league again. My own opinion obviously.
  10. Yep, he doesn't know what he's doing, got to agree there.
  11. I can see all this ending in tears. I for one hope wilder stays, i'm quite looking forward to next years Derbies with him as utds manager. Same script but a different ending. Fair play to him, he's made a few silk purses this year from average players but it's all fizzling out now.
  12. In 2 years time he'll have disappeared altogether. There is a distinct cut off between managers these days. There is an additional tribute required when managing in the premier league, that's why warnock doesn't cut the mustard up there. I reckon Jos has the credentials though so get ready for the roller coaster ride cos' here it comes.:):)
  13. Watched the highlights, pretty much one way traffic but a clean sheet is great. Well done Wednesday.
  14. I wouldn't know mate to be honest, I didn't realise he was a newcastle fan, i always thought he was a blade. Maybe a bit like that star journo, kevin gage i think, obviously not brought up as one but more or less became one due to circumstances. Unlike us Owls where we are chosen. Oh, I remember it well. I was around 3 or 4 years old when I was given the instruction from above, I thank the lord for being directed onto the path of righteousness.:)
  15. Sounds like he's been tapped up by another club but has to deflect his selling out onto problems in the boardroom. I thought he was supposed to be a blade through and through? That's modern day football I suppose, loads of players do it as well, just no loyalty these days. But for gods sake, be honest at least, just say "I'm off for the big penny" don't try and hide behind problems at boardroom level. He's at his own club isn't he? Not Northampton Town, without a doubt he'll be somewhere like Accrington Stanley before the end of May.
  16. Great win today, superb goals from FF, how much have we missed him? I reckon we'll be back on track next season, off load some of the big earners and turn to youth>
  17. There's a few very good sides in the championship, Fulham are one of them, the half time stats were a bit embarrassing from a Wednesday point of view.
  18. Few cracking goals for the Owls, Joao's header-what a cracker as was big Dave's, great to see FF back, things are looking up at last.
  19. That's unreal really. Fancy owning a football club and supporting someone else. Each to their own I suppose. I always thought he supported utd though.
  20. Needed that, great win there, well done Wednesday
