  1. Its usually near the cake stuff not the alcohol. but amazon sell it. Black Forest Gateau though. When there are so many other fabulous chocolate cakes. ---------- Post added 11-12-2012 at 07:03 ---------- according to the world wide web its available in waitrose
  2. I've filled in one of these forms too thanks Planner 1 - Something had obviously happened at Bocking Lane roundabout on wednesday or thursday morning. Four policemen were gritting the roundabout by hand. Having obviously been called out as the blue light was flashing on the squad car. I think I was too late to see the remains of the accident it could have involved the 76 bus which was parked up and empty but my point is, should the police not be involved in reducing crime. Unless you call the criminal behaviour of the council a priority
  3. I rate the bbc books china modern and chinese food made easy http://www.chinesefoodmadeeasy.co.uk/chinese_food_made_easy_book.php But as for authentic I could not say but the bbc tv programmes were quite good.
  4. very disapppointed with the refit, bright lights make the floor (not replaced) look dirty, no more salad counter by the door. Cafe looked a bit bleak. Too many "men" in dirty boots had obviously been up the escalator during the refit. On the plus side all the rubbish that is not grocery is now on the right where I can ignore it, but this had the effect of making the store seem smaller especially since they have vastly reduced the amount of tills.
  5. I feel like a real numpty reading this. From the beginning I've always put anything remotely plastic or metal in the blue recycling bin. plant pots, punnets and metal trays. Its always been emptied
  6. There's a new (ish - someone might correct me and say its been their five years) fabric shop - fabric world on Mary's Gate (bottom of London Road) I've not tried it yet but it boasts of a great selection. I think the markets do materials.
  7. record collector is closed all day Wednesday and Sunday one day is late night.
  8. - I got one from sheffield college when I did an art evening class.
  9. There is one on Meadowhead, but its owned by the same people as the one on Ecclesall, and one near the KFC at woodseats.
  10. Classic website, does not give the address of the stores, never thought of Catcliffe as being Rotherham, the other locations are equally vague. I suppose if the are after the grey pound, an excellent web site might not be a factor
  11. There a few independent coffee shops opening up, steel city cakes comes to mind. Maybe they might want a local supplier and possibly small sandwich shops
  12. sainsburys archer road had them in the ladies sale bit, it was a bit of a jumble though
  13. I washed my duvet at Goodman Sparks on Ecclesfield Road in near the Coop. It costs £3.60 for the wash and £1 for the dry (but I probably should have left it longer) They have a branch at the top of Meadowhead but never been. I tend to go to the one on Ecclesfield Road cos its open Sunday.
  14. If i lived near Sterecycle it would be the pong that bothered me more. Drove past one evening, windows up quick!!
  15. I think you can get it in timpsons (which has outlets in atkinsons and sainsbury's archer road). I think jones sell good shoe polish and most of the supermarkets do.
  16. I made one for my daughter out of an old sheet. I just made my own pattern out of newspaper and sewed two red felt hearts on to pockets to make it more obvious. Unfortunately I have no idea where it ended up.
  17. forgive my ignorance but I have not idea what the universal credit scheme is. Can we all apply?
  18. I've been there, its got quite a good choice - its larger that doncaster or junction 28 on the M1 at Mansfield and there is a sort of leisure park with eating franchises and an indoor snow thing and cinema. (not that I used it). By public transport I would have thought the one in York is probably easier but by car it has thousands of parking spaces. I never think there are that many bargains in these places, a lot of the time its previous season or the stuff that has not sold in the regular shops. With the cost of public transport you might find that you could save the train fare and spend the extra in meadowhall instead. The one exception I have found is the place at Cheshire Oaks, maybe I caught it at the right time (new year's day) but this one is truly massive and the designer outlets are designers I recognise as designers.
  19. I think we are fairly unique. I hope the marquee has crisps and peanuts
  20. There are some good charities such as singing for the brain. I cant see someone with dementia operating SKYPE, my mother in low never knows where to look to find the webcam
  21. possibly the central library. Once upon a time, the sheffield star employed court reporters and a lot of detail ended up in local papers. I think these were on micro fiche in the library. Librarians can be helpful.
  22. Bins full when it started.... would have helped if they had also said in the first letter that they were changing the collection day. Letter on Tuesday apologizing for not notifying that Monday was my new collection day and saying the replacement bin collection would be Tuesday. (earlier in the day) Letter delivered about 9pm at night. Then they came around to apologise in the rain where I kept them talking for ages on my doorstep, no porch. Revenge is a dish best served cold. Email today saying if its their fault they apologise, nearly two weeks later, Bin collection due Monday so doubt they can do anything in that time given the timescale it usually takes them to reply to anything.
  23. Surely this is Veolia wanting to run half a service for the same amount of money provided by the council or refusing to negotiate on cost. Its not just a greedy council, its us being greedy too. We find increases in costs or reductions in care/education/library provision unacceptable, so bins are the soft option.
