  1. All 4 chicks looking very healthy and feeding well.
  2. It's wrong to speculate unless you were actually there as a witness
  3. Feeding time at Norwich now. link http://upp.hawkandowl.org/norwich-peregrines/live-norwich-cathedral-peregrine-web-cam-2014/ ---------- Post added 06-05-2014 at 15:28 ---------- Feeding now. All 4 chicks visible and eating well
  4. Evidently similar scam has been tried on Freegle, Item offered free, then when anyone shows interest they are asked for money to deliver said item as the person who offered it has moved out of Sheffield. The mods on there have been posting warnings.
  5. 3 babies all visible. Mum just popped out.
  6. A few points to raise here: 1. Does the OP have a drive and if so why don't they use it 2. How long since the neighbour passed their test, surely they should be getting used to reversing by now 3. Couldn't the neighbour get someone from their own house to 'guide' them out for the first couple of times - I mean how do they go on when out and about in their car - surely they don't sit and honk their horn to get someone to move their vehicle whenever it's not parked to their liking
  7. Went in, a few years ago, looking to buy a bike, saw something I liked the look of, but when I asked for more info was given the brush off and spoken to as if I was some kind of brainless idiot. Even though I'd told them it would be a cash sale and that I'd held a full motorcycle licence for over ten years, so really not surprised they've finally closed!
  8. I have terrier who has worked out how to 'unroll' hedgehogs, luckily I managed to get there in time, so better to be safe than sorry
  9. I am priviliged to know Teeny, and know first hand of the work she does in Zimbabwe, perhaps if some of you had as much compassion as she has in one of her little fingers the world would be a much better place.
  10. Thanks for all the replies I've now managed to get some and yes it has cleaned my oven. You heat your oven to 200C, turn it off and then place a bowl with 1 cup ammonia on the middle shelf, and a bowl of boiling water on the shelf underneath. Close the oven and leave overnight (there is a smell so you need to have the kitchen well ventilated). Next day dilute the ammonia with warm water (wear gloves) and add some washing up liquid (no other chemicals) and wipe the oven clean. Some baked on areas will need a bit of a scrub, but not too much.
  11. Its for cleaning an oven - you put some in a bowl and heat the oven then leave it in overnight, after which time you can dilute it and wipe the oven clean
  12. Does anyone know where I can buy some ammonia please - have tried Wilkinsons, but they don't have it anymore.
  13. As a Band 6 Sister with over 15 years nursing experience I can confirm that the salary for the top of afc band six is £34,530 per annum. No I don't expect special privileges for parking, but also I don't see why I, or any of the other members of staff at STH should have to pay twice when the staff car parks are full due to the fact that there are not enough spaces. I work at the Northern General and using public transport would add an extra 2 hours to my working day. There is also the little matter of personal safety as there have been a number of attacks on staff members who have had to use public transport or who have to park in the streets surrounding the hospital.
  14. Something which seems to have been overlooked on this thread is the fact that staff at STH who pay for a permit can only park in certain areas which are usually full by about 7.00 am. If they start work after that time and there are no places in the staff car park they then have to pay to park in the pay and display areas, just the same as members of the public, even though they are displaying a valid parking permit. How many of you would buy a season ticket for football (for example) and then be prepared to pay again because someone else was in your seat. Not many I bet, yet those of us who work for STH are threatened with fines if we can't find a space in the staff car parks.
  15. I remember the old Rag and Tag, going there with my nan, cos I had a couple of aunties who had a stall selling toys and greeting cards. Also the old tram shed where they sold animals from pigeons to puppies. Later my dad ran a coupe of sweet stalls in the Castle Market - when it was still in its heyday. Sadly most of the meeting over the last few years has been between drug dealers and junkies, on the stairs and walkways around the market. The meat and fish areas have been badly neglected and become smelly and dirty. Hopefully the move will herald a new era for the traders and the people of Sheffield. As for the proposed excavation - it will be great if it's done properly, but if its just some half cocked attempt then Sheffield will just be left with another wasteland in the city. I hope I'm wrong, but on the recent performance of our council I don't think I will be.
  16. A E Dowse have regular auctions and valuation days contact them to ask for more details
  17. Probably best to have it valued and then sell it privately
  18. Try one of the butchers on Spital Hill, remember getting some from there once but it was a long time ago. It has a distinct flavour of its own and is stronger than mutton. Many of my West Indian friends actually prefer the taste of Mutton to goat as they find the flavour of goat too strong.
  19. Independent Will writers are not regulated, anyone can set themselves up, without any training or qualifications. Solicitors either draw up wills themselves or employ trained Probate Executives, whose work is closely supervised by the firm employing them. A reputable firm of solicitors will be happy to give you an idea of prices for drawing up simple wills. My son works as a Probate Executive for a firm of solicitors and they make a lot of money from sorting out estates of people who either have left no will, used a DIY will form or from sorting out badly drawn up wills. I have purposely not included the name of my son or the firm he works for as I am not touting for business on their behalf.
  20. We went in with grandchildren the other week, not impressed I'm afraid. Had to ask for table to be wiped. Also ordered food and was told it would be 20 mins, so after waiting 30 mins I went to ask about our order to be told it was 'the next to be done'. I just asked for my money back and left.
  21. Places to Visit guide from Sheffield Information Link - Sheffield's Family Information Centre. There is a downloadable booklet called 'Places to Visit in and Around Sheffield for Children Young People and Families'. I think hard copies are also available.
