No harm done pal. But getting back on track do you remember in the old days of the blue and ivory livery when the first all over advert bus for The Star appeared? All red and blue diagonal wavy lines?

Then the all over advert for Fletchers bread with the bus painted up like a loaf of bread. You could even see the edges of the greaseproof wrapping paper on the front and back.

Don't recall the Fletchers one, but do have vague memories of 'The Star'.

Hmm. “A common livery that’s a historical nod, or relevant to the area”. So would that be Sheffield corporation, or Rotherham, or Doncaster, or one of the SYPTE iterations, or SYT, or Mainline or one of the independents swallowed up since 1986 then?

AFAIK there are already some buses done with internal liveries with area specific links.

Thanks, I’m aware of that Resident. I was responding to the post by Neal M about his idea regarding a new livery that acknowledges the predecessors of First and pointing out how many previous liveries there are to choose from. A good idea but where do you begin.

I’m a big fan of the late 70’s/early 80’s coffee and cream look, so that was the historical nod I was alluding to. I really disliked the red and yellow that came later.

As you say, the individual corporations had different liveries, so they wouldn’t work for a unified service.
