Democracy - Good Or Bad?

So not only do a tiny " majority" elect a wildly unrepresentative Government, they then get no say in who is the Prime Minister

Stuff of a banana republic.

It fuels huge  cynisism in the public life and its destructive to a healthy society

The whole electorate chooses the  individual MPs  who represent the people of our country in Parliament.  Then the government is chosen as a consequence of the makeup of Parliament. The leader of the largest  political party in Parliament becomes prime minister.  Nothing like a banana republic.

Four Prime Ministers, complete chaos. :hihi:

If it was not for the EU referendum vote then most likely David Cameron or Theresa May would be the current prime minister.

In spite of our 'Democracy,' we are one of the most class riddled societies in Europe, possibly the world. And now with growing inequality.

Most Countries are dependent on the quality of their leaders be they benign dictators or democratically elected governments. The quality of our pre-selected leaders is dire and has been for a long time.

One reason for the rich getting richer is that companies now sell worldwide. Instead of having lots of small manufacturing compnies, we have vehicles and even food companies that sell worldwide.

People choose to buy their products from international companies, tariff free EU, UK etc. Trump is protectionist and believes tariffs work.

Buy British is sometimes promoted, but its not real.

The quality of life is dropping for a lot of people as they are being priced out of all the things they enjoy.

Inflation supposes to be coming down...

My pint of beer in the Lane Top club was £2-20 a pint just before Christmas, now £3.

Food prices are still going up Padders, no signs of them dropping. Some supermarkets have a few 'come on' bargains (Morrisons selling big pots of Greek Yoghurt for 37p!) but glad I no longer have a family to feed, that must be very difficult at the moment.
