Galloway will not be good for Rochdale, but we can live in hope.

I know where I'd rather live.

They had not respect for Israel.  The Workers Party Of Britain is effectively the same party under a new name which still has no respect for Israel or Jewish people.

Galloway will  do anything for money, a very unsavoury character. :suspect:

You have to admit the H of C will be more interesting for his presence,  he'll stir things up and jump on anyone without fear/favour - if he's on QT I'll watch, not because I'm a fan but because he thinks he has all the answers.

eorge Galloway has just won a Parliamentary seat in Manchester for the Workers Party, and comes back to Parliament. An Independent candidate came second. What does this say about the coming general election?

Personally I'm lad to see George back in Parliament. I don't particularly like him, but's volatile and he says what he thinks. He'll stir things up a bit and be a pain in the backside to all the other parties. Good.  They need stirring up, and if nothing else al least he'll give another perspective on things, and maybe give them food for thought.

Out of interest what is it you don’t like about George  Galloway ?

Keir Starmer and the Labour party will not like him stirring things up.

I wasn’t very keen on him campaigning alongside Nick Griffin.

Will that do for starters?

He is no match for the Man of Steel but a match for cotton wool head,  Boris,  they can both lie to each other to their hearts content. :hihi:

Axe is wrong again.  Don't keep the source of your figures so secret.

The Office of National Statistics doesn't agree with you and says it's 18%  -  I said under 20%.

https://www.ons.gov.uk/visualisations/censusareachanges/E08000005/

In reality, both are broadly correct, but one is more relevant to this discussion.

Axe's post, when checked out, seems to stem from Wikipedia.

Specifically see note 41 from where that reference was obtained. CityPopulation.de
It's an excellent site for city/country stats on religion ethnicity, age and all sorts of other stuff.
As can be seen from that link, it refers to Rochdale, the town, rather than Rochdale the constituency.

The same site for the constituency shows a rather different profile.
Rochdale Greater Manchester, where you will note that the map broadly agrees with the parliamentary constituency map, also shown here on Wiki

Since this thread is discussing an election, the latter map/stats is/are more valid

An excellent example of how stats/numbers can mislead, either intentionally or inadvertently; (seems to be an issue on the Covid thread too. 😏)

This is why verifiable links are so important, and why I have previously referred to Hitchens Razor.
What can be asserted without evidence can also be dismissed without evidence

Wikipedia is compiled by all sorts of people,  some who know their stuff and others who don't.

You are looking at different sites and choosing the figure which suits you.

The National Office for Statistics is the governments site and you can be sure that's what they themselves work from.

Are you now going to argue that the governments figures are wrong ?
