Just drop it at your local shop point. They scan it, you get a reciept for proof of postage so you're covered.

Also, when I sent a parcel via Hermes at the drop off shop, the receipt had the tracking number on it. 

 

I have only sent a parcel once via Hermes, and I liked how it all worked. Very smooth and  easy system.  I can recommend it.

Yes, ditto.  It always seems to go pretty smoothly.  I'm quite impressed by how works.

I've used Hermes to send loads of items that I sold on e-bay.  They have usually arrived within 2 days of dropping off at the shop.  I usually try to make sure I've dropped the item by midday as the collection is usually between 1 p.m and 2 p.m.  Your local shop will be able to give you an idea of the time the items are collected.
