I know a crime's a crime (and I'd cut the culprit's thieving hands off whatever the response) but it's surely of general interest re the safety (or otherwise) of the area in question. You can get robbed anywhere of course, but some areas are worse than others and those areas are pretty well known to most of us as they tend to be areas where housing is cheapest and where there are higher levels of ethnic communities. I would be very wary of walking around those areas at night. Anyhow sorry to hear about what happened to this young girl and I hope that she isn't damaged by this and the guy can be brought to justice. I wouldn't personally fancy walking down there in the dark at night. During the day there's so many shops open and such a wide variety of people walking around I doubt you'd have many issues.
