Reform Herman's Hermits or get the Rolling Stones to write and perform one last classic song like 'Star Star' next year. Phil Collins, Genesis and Queen among the biggest ever sellers in Germany.  Dire Straits, Queen (again) and Supertramp in France. 3rd rate club acts using songs not making the grade in Sweden, nowhere. nikki-red   308 #18 Posted May 19, 2019 (edited) We could have a fantastic song by a fantastic singer and we would still fail. No established, already popular singer or band is going to risk being made a laughing stock of, why would they? Funky_Gibbon   42 #19 Posted May 19, 2019 (edited) And some people think that British people are paranoid, suspicious of others and insular...  Honestly, turning a kitsch song contest full of tone-deaf people murdering all that is good about music into an example of why the world is against Britain and so therefore we should take our ball home might just be a new low for us.  Or if you want to believe this cobblers is some grand conspiracy then maybe a moment of reflection might lead you to the understanding that if you pee off and insult all your friends for no reason then you probably deserve the cold shoulder treatment. Or maybe not, because we're British and blaming others for our own problems is what we do. Top Cats Hat   10 #21 Posted May 19, 2019 Who cares?  This was never a serious song competition even in the days when the UK and Ireland were winning every year.  It is a high camp entertainment extravaganza that is watched by millions every year. We are no more entitled to win it than any of the 40 other countries who entered.  Get a grip folks! 🙄
 Share this content via...
hauxwell   243 #22 Posted May 19, 2019 I haven’t watched the programme yet so I can’t say what I think of our entry. Some say it’s political because we are always at or near the bottom of the competition, I’m not sure what to think about that, but if it is all the more reason to enter. We might send an exceptionally outstanding good singer one year and the judges might forget their political views. We have won the competition a few times and come second on a number of occasions so have we just become complacent and took it for granted that we should automatically come in the top five even if our entry is rubbish.
 Share this content via...

We could have warmed up John Lennon and George Harrison and put the Beatles up and we'd have still got nil pois.  Its time Britain stopped being a major financial contributor to Eurovision.
 Share this content via...
