.You clearly think that they are all just trying to simultaneously steal our jobs whilst also lounging around on benefits.

A complete and utter nonesense ranty lie, based on nothing more than your prejudice and a wish to tarnish anyone who disagrees with you.

You prove exactly the point I was making. If you don't like what someone is saying then imply or say they are racist. Do you work for Rotherham council, you'd fit right in.

A start in the wrong direction.

An extra £45m to tackle less than 2 people per day trying to enter the U.K. illegally by boat.

Better spent on trafficking routes through our ports.

Still it panders to those who believe that this constitutes a crisis.

As I said it's got to start somewhere & if it just makes a few think 'Well I'm going to pay some trafficker /my family back home are going to be in hock to a trafficker & I risk loosing €0,000', it might make those currently residing in France think twice & claim asylum there.

Also if we do keep returning failed asylum claimants to France, maybe they'll be a bit more robust in protecting their other borders & stop letting folk wondering into their country in the first place.  I can't imagine your average Frenchman is to happy with the porous borders, it's been well documented that the citizens around Calasis are fed up with the situation but then again, they're a few hundred km's from Paris.

We should now be looking to do the same with Belgium & Holland.

They realised that digging a 21 mile wide channel round France would be a tad expensive and **** off the millions of tourists from the rest of Europe who spend billions in the country 😎

France has open borders on every side because it abuts other european countries.  There are no border checks between Spain/France, Germany/France, Portugal/France.

Now, you don't imagine that the refugees are arriving by boat across the atlantic do you?

Think you're getting a bit confused about open borders & 'open borders'.

Only those citizens of the 26 countries signed up to the Schengen Agreement, truly have the right of free passage into France, Belgium, Holland, etc.  The vast majority of the world still require a visa.

Of course those sneaking in won't have any documents at all,  so it's once again down to the French, Belgium & Dutch to sort this sort of thing out & deal with their illegal immigrant problem for those who don't want to or have no intention of claiming asylum in France, Belgium or Holland or any of the other numerous  mainland European countries they pass through, before they get to the Northern French, Belgium or Holland  Channel port & potentially become the Uk's problem.

Have you ever actually been to Europe?

I'm not guessing, there are open borders between France, Spain, Germany and Portugal.  The border signs are there, but that's all.  No customs, no men in uniforms.  You simply drive straight through, if you didn't see the sign you wouldn't have even known you'd changed countries.

France obviously has border controls at international points of entry, airports for example, but not at land borders.

Why would the french, Belgians etc give a toss on who goes through their country and gets to ours? We wouldn’t if the boot was on the other foot. Besides, don’t they have a bigger migrant/asylum seeker problem than us anyway? They’ll be glad to see the back of a few.
