hauxwell   243 #25 Posted May 23, 2017 it was miles more dangerous in the 1970s and the 1980s than it is now, with the terrorism. The IRA, Red Brigade, etc apparently used to cause explosions in crowded arenas all the time - much more often than the terrorists these days do. These days, as some people here on this forum are quick to argue all the time, it's much safer with the terrorism now than it used to be, and it hardly ever happens.  Hope you are right and you are not talking to soon. I agree with Melthebell, this won't help the families. Deeply sorry for the victims.
 Share this content via...

This is going too far now.  Of course not, but what do you propose? A war isn't going to help anything except kill even more innocent people. We are fighting an idea, you cannot defeat an idea with bullets.
 Share this content via...

Puggie   10 #31 Posted May 23, 2017 The security services cannot solve a deeper sociopolitical problem.  The discussion we need to have is unpalatable to many within the political classes but it's the only way we're going to solve the problem. We need to start listening to the social scientists for once.  Broken and disenfranchised individuals within our communities will start a journey to find comfort and find purpose in their lives. Religion much likes gambling or drugs can be abused, it can become a drug of choice and it can provide comfort to those that feel like they're very existence within society lacks meaning.  We are becoming too preoccupied with how this is happening but very few are asking why this is happening. Guest busdriver1 Â Â #32 Posted May 23, 2017 Thankfully these happenings are very rare. If we stop going to concerts we just hand them a second victory. Remain vigilant, follow advice given and keep safe.
 Share this content via...
sedith   19 #33 Posted May 23, 2017 I want to know what the government intend to do about this situation ... it appears 'nothing'. Putting more police on the streets in London??? What about Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Sheffield? I see a time when the UK population take this into their own hands in the cities.
