Gun ownership is ingrained into the american psyche. It will take generations to change, but their first step should be to remove NRA sponsorship of congress members.

This.

The NRA doesn't give a damn about the innocents slaughtered by these mass shootings. The NRA exists to support the interests of gun manufacturers and not gun owners.

How would you go about banning NRA sponsorship of congress members? Apart from anything else, they aren't the only pro-firearm organisation. And what about alcohol and tobacco companies? Say what you want about guns but plenty of innocent lives are saved by guns in the US every year. And what about the pharmacutical industry?

As long as there is a demand for guns, there will be a supply. Make guns illegal and you put the supply of criminals, and look how that has worked with street drugs now and with alcohol in the past.

So what would you do about the continued massacres?

You don't have to make guns illegal, just hard to get hold of. Hence the title of the thread.

Gun crime has consistently been higher post-Dunblane than it was before that tragedy. The only thing banning guns has done has stopped law-abiding people from having them. Somewhat surprisingly, criminals don't care about the law and are more tooled-up than ever.

So what have you got to back this up or did you just make it up?

Come on Happ hazard you cnat make claims like that without being able to back it up or everyone will think you make things up, just to suit you.

how many criminals go on mass shooting sprees? id say not many, yes a criminal will use a gun but generally its a tool for his crime, not to kill 10s of innocent people generally.

what we had the other day was a troubled, terrorist supporting "foriegner" who was legally able to aquire 13 guns, THIRTEEN?

if ones not good enough get 13 Oo

Should gun law be tightened up ?

stopgap measures like gun control and legislation won't make much of a difference..its more.the decay of culture that is a more serious long-term issue.

How did society degenerate to this level???

society today is pretty much what Hollywood Pumps out.

Pop culture.

Hollywoods obsession with violence and gore, now terrorism is in the mix. In the Movies the Good guy vs the Bad guy role gets Equality measusred by a gun . Violent movies have a huge impact on young minds ,

Gaming is another problem area with children over 8 playing games such as Grand theft Auto, pimping, drugs, guns, murder,

alienation from fellow humans coupled with social Darwinism, , Me First mentality and a culture replete with violence. Movies, rap music, books filled with violence. Novels full of fast action and shooting.

our whole corrupt culture is filled with violence.

.

Also most Mass murder or shooting cases the defendant or suspect is on SSRI drugs that affect the chemical make up in a person ability in able to think touch feel react!

Society is decaying and becoming more and more decadent and immoral!

Wake up ffs!

And all acquired illegally so what's the point of gun control if scumbags can still get them by other means.

They tried "alcohol control" about a hundred years ago and look what happened after that

That makes no sense. Th idea would be that if gun were made more difficult to obtain then people would undergo more extensive vetting and there would be fewer guns in circulation, which in turn would mean fewer incidents.

The fact he was able to obtain 13 guns legally is a sign of how easy it is and not a sign that laws dont work. A member of the punlic simply couldnt get their hands on that level of firepower in the UK.

Its up to the USA whether they want less shootings or not and whether they are prepared to do anything about it or just take it as collateral damage from high levels of gun ownership. The only other countries this happens in on this level are mostly in S America.
