mitchell91 Posted March 14, 2015 Share Posted March 14, 2015 Hi im thinking about going fishing on the Don tomorrow morning for a few hours, last time i went was after the great flood of 2007 (5 wiers walk on attercliffe) Fancy catching a few grayling, trout maybe even some chub. Salmon and trout close seasons The close season for salmon is from 1 November to 5 April inclusive The close season for all non-migratory trout in rivers, streams, drains and canals and for brown trout in all waters other than enclosed stillwaters, is from 1 October to 24 March inclusive. You have to use certain types of lures and baits in some areas however. Midlands, Yorkshire, and the north-east and north-west of England You can only use natural or artificial fly, minnow, worm, shrimp, prawn, sand eel or artificial lures during close season. dars35 Posted March 18, 2015 Share Posted March 18, 2015 many years ago they used to stock damflask with trout, to allow anglers to fish it through the coarse closed season, to maintain year-round income although I can't recall the actual laws regarding dates, I do seem to recall that used to start on 25th March, suggesting that was the law - otherwise they'd have just allowed people to fish through from the end of the coarse season... this is going back to the mid 1980's Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
