The Cloverfield Paradox.4/10

Unbelievable bad story.

Unbelievable bad acting.

Unbelievable bad science.

The last 5 minutes were not bad.

Damn it, I just signed up to Netflix specifically to watch that, oh well I'll have to cancel when its time to start paying for the subscription.

The Ritual 7/10

I know theres been quite a lot of negativity about it, but I liked it.

I thought it had just the right amount of humour, and the whole Norse God thing is quite interesting. I did realise halfway through that Id actually read the book a couple of years ago tho.

Watch “The men who stare at goats” instead then.

That’s how I spent this snowy afternoon. A very odd, but compelling film. Jon Ronson’s books are worth a read too.

I've just watched 'The Mountain Between Us', with the fabulous Idris Elba & Kate Winslett. It's about a random couple who are thrown together as a result of a plane crash.

I wouldn't have necessarily put the two of them together but it's superbly acted by both of the above, (there's only about 4 characters & a dog in the plot), but I was crying buckets at the end.

I'd have to give it a 10/10. It's filmed in beautiful British Columbia too, which is one of my favourite parts of the world.

The Nice Guys - 7/10 - I didn't like Shane Black's Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, found it overrated, this one is a 70's set black comedy thriller with two PI's getting together to solve the apparent suicide of a porn star.

Funny and quite violent in places, like an old fashioned buddy cop movie.

Texas Blood - I just didnt get it! it was like watching a cheap US drama series but in a film 0/10

Southern Fury - I can only describe it as mental! Nicolas Cage's over acting and the non essential sex scenes are just random! 3/10

Wow, I've never heard of that but checked up and it has a proper big time cast, will give it a go.

No Good Deed 6.5/10

Im not entirely happy with Idris Elba being a baddie, but its a watchable enough thriller.

I prefer it when Idris Elba plays Idris Elba (as he did in Luther) but I'll try to watch both of these.

The French Connection - 8/10

A classic. Gene Hackman at his best.

"Did you ever pick your feet in Poughkeepsie?"

Loved the chase with Gene in the Santa Claus outfit LOL.:D

Sid And Nancy - 7/10 - Gary Oldman plays tragic punk rocker Sid Vicious in this 80's biopic, great film with Ed Tudor-Pole not really convincing as Johnny Rotten letting the side down.

Gary Oldman was brilliant, what else is new, but I thought the film was very dark and depressing, which was exactly the point, I suppose. Agree with your rating, mainly because of Oldman.

While we are talking 80's movies. I had another peek at Born on the Fourth of July. I had forgotten how good this Oliver Stone classic was 9/10. Anybody who thinks Tom Cruise can't act, can't have seen this performance.

Not seen that film for years, might have a rewatch.
