Road closures at Meadowhead for 3 weeks!

They are shutting off the pedestrian underpass between Mitchell's wine and norton pub and putting up a pedestrian crossing. I for one would rather cross over the road than go down there on an evening so that is a better move. As for the roundabout the plans stated they were making it "easier" for cars and "wider"..... who knows

'Deeper' actually.

It's underground, you wouldn't be able to see it.When they start on the flyover you'll be able to see that.

Although they are going to build a flyover, it won't be for some time ... it's called 'Phase 3' and probably not for another couple of years.

Swimming against the Council-bashing tide, I can't be the only one to think that, during the roadworks, the roundabout has functioned/flowed no worse than before and possibly better.

Could this because the roadworks have traffic-calmed the speed on the roundabout down to a level where drivers can find and use a gap on the roundabout more easily AND, with only two lanes, drivers' lane choice (and intended path) is easier to read and decidedly more predictable.

It will interesting to see how a new and fully-opened roundabout layout will flow (with more lane choices, higher transit speeds and less predictability).

looking at what they are doing, once finished its going to be worse than it was before, they reduced it from 3 to 2 lanes

Where is this info from? The proposed new lane layout is almost identical to the original layout apart from the section by the Greenhill Main Rd splitter island, which is being increased from 2 lanes to 3 lanes.

I use it twice a day and looking at the width, it can't be more than 2 lanes wide as all the kerbing is in place now on both sides of the road
