El Cid
Hi Its been really foggy this morning, and some drivers didnt have any lights on at all. The police do their best to catch people breaking the speed limit, but why no action in the area of lighting up? Many motorists had only side lights on, and headlights were needed. All it would take is a camera recording the evidence. They could take many unsafe drivers off the road, and make millions of pounds too. Brilliant idea, why is it not being done? Bonjon
Yes they should: 226 You MUST use headlights when visibility is seriously reduced, generally when you cannot see for more than 100 metres (328 feet). You may also use front or rear fog lights but you MUST switch them off when visibility improves (see Rule 236). And likewise people who use fog lights when its not foggy. Eagerly awaiting who will be the first to defend the motorists and use the phrase "cash cow". Place your bets people!

Maybe they should just hand out warnings or points rather than a fixed sum of money as a fine ? Maybe people wouldn't call it a cash cow then... geared
I saw some fella on the M1 this morning, side-lights and fog lights. Most other people just driving with normal headlights on.
BanjoBoy
What surprised me this morning when I saw numpties driving around with no lights on was that they weren't elderly or middle aged people - many were younger drivers in their twenties. Not quite what I would have expected.
alchresearch
My young assistant didn't even realise that fast flashing indicators meant a bulb was out.
milliardo
Yes, it's absolutely crazy! My OH nearly went into the side of a van who was halfway out of a junction with no lights on (it was especially thick in our area) and then this morning some idiot must have been going at least 50, maybe even 60 down a 30 street and almost side swiped us, came out of nowhere! The funny thing is, I bet a lot of the people who don't have their fog lights on now are the type who drive around with them in blue sky and sun. Are they all training to be ninjas or something? PeteMorris
I seem to have mislaid the switch for my fog lights. I can't find it anywhere, and I'm sure the car 'does' have some! Edited March 6, 2013 by PeteMorris
