Snow is predicted before the end of January, perhaps even a snowstorm

Hardly. It's clear again now and well above freezing. There's unlikely to be any significant snow for the next week or so. You're a bizarre little man.

horrendous - causing fear or dread or terror; "the awful war"; "an awful risk"; "dire news"; "a career or vengeance so direful that London was shocked"; "the dread presence of the headmaster"; "polio is no longer the dreaded disease it once was"; "a dreadful storm"; "a fearful howling"; "horrendous explosions shook the city"; "a terrible curse"

some rotten weather up there then

Right, I don't want any next Saturday 28th, as I have booked a night in and B & B at Robin Hood's Bay. Am I am crummy at walking we are allowed to take the car down the hill .. Getting back up may be a problem if it snows. Lol. Big operation on the 1st Feb so need to see the sea so I can rest easy knowing that whatever happens, I've seen the sea.
