  1. Er, no. Best coffee that I have personally drunk in Sheffield is Remo's in Broomhill. In all fairness I haven't tried Bishops. If you must go to a chain then I think the best are either Costa or Nero (both in town).
  2. Had lunch there last Sunday and enjoyed it. Quite busy but service was fairly rapid and the piano in the background was lovely. Very pleasant (and rather attractive!) waiter. Will be going back just as I expected.
  3. Yay!! Had heard a rumour they were opening another branch in Broomhill, very pleased to have it confirmed. 5mins from my front door!!
  4. Looked open, but empty of all customers (unsurprisingly) on Thursday.
  5. I've only been to Patoo once and wasn't that impressed. All Siam is my favourite closely followed by Thai Punna.
  6. The London Club pre-theatre menu is £12 for two courses so would just about fit your budget for the two of you by the time you've added on drinks. I last ate there about 2 months ago and it was really good.
  7. Agree with all of this except the bit about Casanovas, which I like. But definitely room for a decent Spanish/Mediterranean.
  8. I've seen Ash live before (Octagon 2001) and they were fab, looking forward to seeing them again.
  9. I like Canton Orchard, Dim Sum and Hui Wei. Not been to Noodle Inn.
  10. Browns in Covent Garden is one of my favourite places to go in London - great atmosphere, excellent cocktails and a solid (if not incredibly original) menu - desserts are particularly good. Obviously I have no idea if the one in Sheffield is as good, but I look forward to going to find out.
  11. Was it this thread you wanted: http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=754004 The Harley is on Glossop Rd near the tram stop.
  12. A few recommendations... The Milestone http://www.the-milestone.co.uk/ The London Club http://www.londonclubsheffield.co.uk/ Thyme Cafe in Broomhill All Siam on Eccy Rd Hope you find somewhere you like!
  13. http://www.asos.com have lots of nice dresses and usually quite reasonably priced.
  14. Another vote for the London Club, it's excellent (although less good since they stopped offering a choice of sauces to go with your steak!) The steak at the Wig and Pen is pretty nice too. Not yet tried the new Bar and Grill in Leopold Sq but have heard good things.
  15. Yep I did my save the date magnets and my invites on Vistaprint -both really good quality and really cheap!
  16. Carriages has become Morans - still very nice, hence my recommendation above!
  17. I last went about 6 months ago and it was as good as it always has been.
  18. The Milestone at Kelham Island has recently taken over the Wig and Pen and it's really nice -by far the nicest place to eat in the town centre in my opinion. http://www.the-wigandpen.co.uk/home.php We tend to go a bit out of town for our special occasions - favourites are Morans in Dore and the Peacock at Rowsley. Have a nice anniversary!
  19. Piccolino's behind the Winter Gardens is also a chain, but I still really like it. Apart from Casanova's in Crookes, which I've always found pretty good over the 11yrs I've lived round the corner from it, no other recommendations -Marco@Milanos is nice, but very overpriced for what it is.
  20. Sounds like they've improved. I last went a couple of years ago -service poor, food acceptable but very dull.
  21. Went to Lokanta the other week and quite enjoyed it although did think the mains were quite pricey for what they were. Enjoyed the meze starters and the Turkish wine was actually quite nice (have never managed to try it in Zeugma as it's always out of stock!)
  22. The shopping at Meadowhall IS good, but it's all chain stores which I'm sure the OP will have been to many times before. If you're really wanting shopping, try Division Street -conveniently close to town and lots of different/individual little shops. My new fave is Collard Manson http://www.collardmanson.com/ accessories, homeware AND a really nice cafe!!
  23. Reopened before Christmas run by the guys who own the Milestone. Click the link I left above
  24. Hi there, the stuff that's on at the Crucible/Lyceum is usually very good (was there last night to see Avenue Q!!) I've seen the Trockadero Ballet before, not this production but the one I saw was great. Agree with Pete's recommendations for restaurants. Also try the Milestone@Wig and Pen http://www.the-wigandpen.co.uk/home.php
