  1. I handed them in to the Outside Cafe in Hathersage. (Dunno how the person losing them got home without them, given the prescription strength! ) Cheers,
  2. I can't connect to anything in S10 now. Had problems with a few websites middle of last week.
  3. No point in Veolia giving us all a yellow bin as they are already taking the p*ss.
  4. Looks like it was a nice day to get some reflections. I walked along the canal to Rotherham the other weekend... the photo opportunities aren't so much fun at the other end!
  5. Nice shots I saw on some wildlife (I think) telly programme the other week that taking the lens off, turning it round and holding it in place would make a macro lens. Anyone tried this? Found this too on the same subject: http://stephenelliot.com/2007/05/15/reverse-lens-macro-photography-tutorial/
  6. And some more: (click for larger versions)
  7. Some of mine from Saturday morning: (click for larger versions)
  8. Just FYI, the Sheffield Uni Institute of Lifelong Learning photography course are also meeting at Victoria Quays 10am Saturday 23rd.
  9. I got this one of August's full moon through a dirty window with the tripod on a bed, which I thought weren't too bad: There's a partial lunar eclipse on 21st Dec, but I reckon it'll be too early in the morning for me: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/December_2010_lunar_eclipse
  10. I missed all the flashes and bangs, but I liked this one in the veg tent:
  11. Try the outdoors shops - Foothills, CCC or Blacks. They usually have this kind of travel stuff.
  12. Broomhill ward, Sheffield Central: 2 from the Greens 2 from Labour 1 from UKIP 1 from Tories (with very sad billy-no-mates looking photos: "this is me in the Botanical Gardens" and "this is me by a road sign outside the Childrens Hospital") 17 (yes, seventeen!) from Lib Dems, including two postal vote application forms already filled out for me (and with their logo on it for some reason..)
  13. Anyone here planning on joining in with the Election Project and submit anything? Anyone know when there are any hustings or owt to go take photographs of? http://theelectionproject.co.uk/ Being run by the official general election artist and the blurb goes:
  14. Like the beer - great variety and can't recall ever having an off pint there. The staff, however, leave a lot to be desired, often seemingly treating the customer as a minor inconvenience they have to put up with until closing time.
  15. Just the trick, ta! (I had thought it only did the 'pile of polaroids' kind).
  16. Neon sign is at Kelham Island Museum. Think the full thing says "Made in Sheffield."
  17. Hi, Does anyone know of any software that I can use to make a collage of lots of other photos from, sort of like this: (This was done using snapfish website, but they have a max of 30 photos and I want 52). I know I could do it by hand, but working out the layout would be a right pig. Cheers,
  18. I just added a poll for the Feb comp, hope nobody minds
  19. Choose your favourite photograph from this month's competition. View the entries at: http://gallery.sunset-studio.co.uk/v/Feb10/ The poll options are named after the file name of the photo. Poll will close in one week's time. (Hope I'm not stepping on anybody's toes by setting up the poll... and does someone want to sticky it?)
  20. Is there to be one and what is the theme? Cheers,
  21. What kind of memory card does your camera use? Does your laptop not have a built in card reader? If not, you can surely buy a USB card reader (usually just a few pounds - try Amazon) that will work with your camera's memory card.
  22. Quite dull and grey of late outside, which got me to thinking of what kinds of photographs I could take in the house. Always quite liked those shots of water droplets splashing down, so thought I'd give it a go. These are my first attempts anyway. Cheers, Pyrex bowl of water; blue LED Ikea lights and a needle-less syringe for the water droplets (ISO 100; 1/200, f/5.6) As above, but some red food dye added to water for a bit more colour. Not quite mixed through here. Red dye now thoroughly mixed through.
  23. I saw this listed on the Event Sheffield website? Not a name I recognise - anyone familiar with him? Would it be worth the £16.50 to go? David Noton - Chasing The Light Photography Road Show ... The event will showcase many of David’s beautiful images and tell the stories behind making them with him often spending days and weeks in the same location waiting for the perfect light. The show will include images, music and video sequences, travel tales and anecdotes and, of course, David’s unique sense of humour transporting guests on a journey of a lifetime around the globe. ... http://www.eventsheffield.co.uk/event/12008/david-noton-chasing-the-light-photography-road-show
