  1. I reckon a faster turnaround would be better... first half of month to submit photo; second half for voting. So all of January's competition would be in January. Just my 2p. But anyway, I've entered one so vote for me!
  2. Not the best snaps in the world, but these are from my most recent holiday - a bit of wild camping in Wales this last weekend. And this is probably my favourite holiday snap of a sunset over Iona off the West coast of Scotland from a couple of years ago.
  3. Is there going to be one? We're running out of June! Wasn't planning on entering this one, but would still like to have seen the entries. Cheers,
  4. If you could move the rightmost windmill a little further to the right.... Nah, I quite like this as it is, nice one.
  5. Blackwells in Broomhill are selling off cheap OS maps - 1:50 Landranger and 1:25 Explorer for £1.50 and £1.75. Most of them are of the Scottish Highlands tho'. Grab a bargain while you can
  6. Hi, Can anyone tell me if the Five Weirs Walk is fully accessible, what with flood damage and vandalism... Cheers,
  7. Courtesy of The Ramblers. You just need to produce a nice backlit-by-the-sun photo: http://www.walkmag.co.uk/competitions/photo-competition/
  8. Thanks Couple I was particularly chuffed with: The Derwent Water jetty - after I saw it on a postcard too The daisy.
  9. Little bit larger (450x300) ones here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/garydickson/sets/72157617813730567/ Cheers,
  10. I think I remember some people here talking about doing a 'Project 365' as a New Year's resolution. I thought a photo a day was a bit ambitous and reckoned I could manage taking at least one a week. Well, I've kept it up for the first third of the year and here they are. Some weeks I had too many to choose from, some too few (I'm thinking wine glass and sheep esp. here). Did anyone else stick to their resolutions? Comments, criticism, etc. all welcome. (Apologies for the one big image of lots of small images. Being less lazy was a resolution I didn't manage to keep:))
  11. Tough theme this one, I thought. I couldn't think of a way to be particularly creative with a real crane (which is why I'd planned to make an origami one! ) But don't forget the bumper crop of entries for 'Weather'. I think a faster turnaround on competitions might keep them fresher: first half of month to get entries in, second half for votes. That way it doesn't drag on for six weeks.
  12. I was going to try to make an origami crane and photograph it but sadly I couldn't find any origami paper and my attempts at making perfectly square paper from A4 were not good enough
  13. I spotted this one down Dove Dale recently, much happier looking!
  14. Anyone know what time they do food until on weekday evenings? (And is booking advisable?) Cheers
  15. What's happened to the photos on the gallery? Some of them are no longer available 'full size' - Cornish Sunset, Sunset over Pollurian Cove, Thundery Skies and Snowsheep are just available at their thumbnail size...
  16. Friends of the Peak District / Campaign to Protect Rural England are running a photo competition if anyone is interested. Details on their websites: http://www.cpresouthyorks.org.uk/events/photo_comp.htm http://www.friendsofthepeak.org.uk/events/photo_comp.htm
  17. So who were the lucky winners? (I was the sheep ) Down in the flood was my favourite, made me think of a Jack Vettriano painting.
  18. Hmm. Maybe my NiMHs are just a bit stuffed - not that old nor abused, but I'm getting nowhere near that usage out of them.
  19. Is there such a thing? I'm not happy with the life of the NiMH rechargrables I've got for my A710, but would still rather use rechargables than throw away ones.
  20. I really liked Nam Grunt. Was it an action man then?
  21. Risk was mine - very happy with the silver:) Even more happy to have gotten a vote at all as my two previous entries have both been nil points
  22. A few shots rom the Imbolc Fire Festival in Marsden yesterday evening. Jack Frost. The Green Man. Jack Frost and the Green Man fight! (Looks more like dancing though!)
  23. These are a few mine from last night on the way back home from the pub. Question for all speccy photographers out there - how do you use manual focus when your specs are covered in rain?
