  1. Looks interesting and I've never been there before but, as ever, it depends on the weather and the progress with our decorating.
  2. Yup - a grand day out even if the pace was a tad energetic at times! But after long hot bath and a couple of tubes of deep heat I may regain the use of my legs by next week! Not mentioning eclair by name of course - oops!
  3. Jayemm says she can't do thursday due to spending the afternoon in the gym and drinking coffee
  4. Hoping to make this one, but as ever it will be a late decision.
  5. Maybe if we all try we can start threads faster than Hemlock can close them! Sieg Heil.
  6. No - not Stanage. I'm not even convinced it's in Yorkshire - the countryside round about looks too agricultural and too neat and tidy!
  7. Enjoy the heat while you can Hippiechick. It felt like winter's coming in fast while we were up on Bleaklow today!
  8. I'll echo that Taxman. I can't remember ever getting so wet without the aid of a bike! But after a hot bath and some dry clothes I can say that I'm glad I went, even if I didn't enjoy the second half much at the time.
  9. Weather's not looking too good now - Ms Imp looks like crying off - I'm still intent on going but keeping an eye on the weather.
  10. Looks like we might be in town a bit early so will probably call in at the Banker's Draft for a swift 'arf before the buffet. If anyone else is about early please pop in and join us.
  11. As a BNI member I don't find the weekly attendance an issue (tho getting out of bed early on cold dark mornings can be difficult) - it's business after all and success in business demands commitment. In turning up each week you get to know the group members better, gain confidence in their ability to handle any referrals you get for them and have time to educate them about your own business. There's a social side too so it's very much like going in to work - some chit chat, some business. Meeting 'the sales team' once a week and having targets to hit is good for motivation - particularly for one man bands.
  12. Are we still short of lifts? JM and I will be coming on this one - assuming reasonable weather - Bleaklow is no place to get lost in the mist! We could have up to 2 places in the car if anyone wants a 'fine weather only' lift - starting from Halfway or thereabouts.
  13. I walked from the top of the Snake south along the Pennine Way and up on to Kinder Scout the year before last (I think). The Pennine Way bit is boring but very obvious for about a mile and a half then you come to a gap looking down towards Hayfield with Kinder on your left. Some great countryside and lots of paths to choose - take your OS map (and a compass if you go up on to Kinder!) There are also some good walks on Bleaklow along the Pennine Way the other way (right from the Snake summit). There's a plane wreck on Bleaklow Head (the rocky edge you can see from the Snake) but one of the nost memorable walks up there for me was a two car walk from Derwent over Bleaklow Stones, Bleaklow Head and back to the Snake Pass. We left one car initially at Doctors Gate, all piled over to the top of the Derwent Valley in the other car and started walking up the valley from Kings Tree. Long and hard but well worth it.
  14. At the risk of upsetting the weather by saying so, we're really looking forward to this one. Haven't been up on Bleaklow fer yonks!
