  1. yes, for the sheffield uni. if you know of anyone who goes to the sheffield uni and they have mentioned that they have lost their su card send me a pm and i will arrange to reunite the card with its owner. If i dont hear anything for a few days i will post the card to the su.
  2. I have already contacted the SU. I have given them my address and telephone number and have told them that if the person doesn't contact me I will forward the card to the SU. I have looked on facebook and the person isn't there. Your right Bladesman, I could have thrown it in the bin, probably would have saved me time and possibly the cost of a stamp but I'm not like that. If it was mine I would like to think that someone would go to the trouble that I am going to. I do think that the person in question lives on the same road as myself as the photo looks familiar but I don't know which house and I am not door knocking on the off chance that I am wrong. I just thought that if I post on here, maybe I could reunite the card with its owner sooner rather than later, which it would be of I sent it back to the SU.
  3. Hi all, this morning on the way to school I found a student union card. It had been dropped on Halliwell Crescent. I have contacted the student union who have taken my details, but if you have lost a card send me a PM telling me your name and I will contact you to arrange to drop it off for you. I think the person in question lives on this road but Im not sure which house.
  4. pc medics is on halifax road. Its just up from the white horse pub, its across road from parson cross school. There is a slip road where the row of shops are. You cant really miss it. And they were open when i walked passed earlier today.
  5. i dont think its bad to be honest. If you want freeview you would have to buy a box and maybe a new ariel. That would cost more than 20.00. My mum paid for one, and she thought she had got herself a bargain. Her main telly is with virgin.
  6. we have always bought ours from pc medics on halifax road. They cost about 7.00 for 50. We have never had a problem with them, and they are usually printable. And you dont have to pay for or wait for delivery.
  7. i am gutted. I knew that five usa were showing the first series, but i just assumed that fx would show the second. :-( i just hope that five repeat it. It was one of the best things on telly.
  8. when was it on? We loved the first series and we are still waiting for the second.
  9. We have just had a ds repaired by a company called the ds doctor. I found them on ebay. For a new case, new top screen and new touch screen it cost £35, the service was second to none and you are saving almost £20. It took about a week from sending it off to getting back an almost new ds. It was worth every penny. :-) Heres the link, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220517486293.
  10. Its not too bad a place to work. I worked there for 7 years, leaving 3 years ago, just as Santader were taking over. It was all tele banking work, but lots of sales targets added in for good measure. The targets were pretty tough though, and they tended to move the goal posts quite regularly. The people on the other hand are great, well most were anyway. Still miss them loads. You apply initially online at http://www.santanderjobs.co.uk/csgs/Satellite?pagename=JobsAtAbbey/Page/PJAI_homeContainer. Good luck, you might need it.
  11. I bought a virgin remote off of eBay. It was much cheaper than buying one from Virgin themselves. Here's the link. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m38.l1313&_nkw=virgin+remote&_sacat=See-All-Categories
  12. Just found this, its just Virgin customers, and it could be down for a while. http://status-cable.virginmedia.com/vmstatus/regionissues.do?regions=YK&prodName=status+home
  13. Apparently someone has been shot in the post office. Police helecopter is circling around Halliwell.
  14. That's just it, he has said that he doesn't want to do it. Part of me thinks fine, if he doesn't want to, he doesn't have to. Hes no Billy Elliot, but the other part of me thinks all of his friends are doing it, and he will be missing out, even though Im not happy at how late he will be going to bed and the fact that he wont have a "proper" meal. I cant go and help because we also have a 3 year old who will need collecting from nursery etc, and I don't have anyone who could look after her because everyone is at work. Got to say, thanks for not jumping on me though. When I have asked advice in the past I have been jumped on by certain forumers, which isn't nice. (Not on the parenting section though)
  15. I cant decide whether I am being completely over protective or whether other parents at my sons school just haven't considered what is involved in a "school trip" which is due to take place in June. My lad is 7. He has a night time routine which we like to stick to on school nights, which involves tea, homework, bath and bed for 8pm. We received a letter from school telling us that there was to be a "trip" to perform a dance that they have been learning. They will go to school as normal in the morning, and at 1pm they will be transported to another school to perform this dance. We were told in the letter that we can buy 2 tickets to watch this dance at £2 each. The kids are to take a packed tea. So basically, we pack then sandwiches up in the morning and they get to eat them at teatime, in the summer, no fridge etc. They perform the dance twice, and the estimated time of finishing the second performance is 8.15. So we can expect the kids to be home for maybe 8.45, if all goes to plan. So they will be at school from 8.45am until 8.45 pm, having soggy sarnies for their tea, and no allowances for them being knackered the next day. Is it just me that thinks that this is all poorly thought out, and a 12 hour day for a 7 year old is a bit excessive, or am i completely over protective? Just to add, I know its only a one off, but still, 12 hours at school for a 7 year old??
  16. Not sure if you really need to go to all that effort to be honest. I watch telly on my pc all the time using this free and, from what i gather, totally legal site http://www.tvcatchup.com/. All you have to do is register and hey presto, all the free view channels are there. I think it depends which isp you are on, but it works fab with Virgin.
  17. Hi, sorry for rooting out an oldish thread, but I recommended Meynell, however what you are saying about the school that your little boy is currently at practically mirrors what is happening at Meynell at the moment to our little lad. It might be worth speaking to Foxhill school, and finding out about the anti bullying policies that they have in place because at the moment Meynells anti bullying policy isn't working. If anything incidents are ignored or made out to be less serious so that they don't have to deal with it. Its a horrible situation to be in, but I would hate to recommend somewhere and then you son end up out of the frying pan and into the fire. Good luck, I just hope that once the new term starts in September, your son will be in a different class and the boy who is making him miserable leaves him alone.
  18. Deffo hairdryer. Its dead quick, but a bit noisy. Don't forget to unplug it first though, and you need a bowl to catch the melted ice.
  19. I agree that Meynell is the better school. I chose to send my son there over Parson Cross, which is nearer to us, because the ofsted report for Meynell was better. I don't have any experience of Foxhill school though.
  20. Found a couple on eBay, there is this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/un-used-Maclaren-Techno-XLR-Coffee-Brown-Soft-Blue_W0QQitemZ140317154106QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Baby_BabyTravel_Pushchairs_GL?hash=item140317154106&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1688|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318 or this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Maclaren-Techno-XLR-Coffee-Blue_W0QQitemZ250415063073QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Baby_BabyTravel_Pushchairs_GL?hash=item250415063073&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1688|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318. There are loads of others that have been used too if you you don't mind second hand.
  21. The website you are looking for is http://www.askmid.com/
  22. If there are 2 different auth codes, then the transaction has been put through twice. However, as a customer of a bank, it can still be disputed with your bank, much the same way as a fraudulent transaction. Rather than chasing Tesco up, he needs to speak to his bank. They will then contact Tesco who will have to investigate. From memory it can take up to a couple of weeks, but that's usually for fraud not a simple mistake. Once the bank have sorted it out, they pay the money back into the account and they usually back date it to the transaction date so that the customer doesn't lose out on interest, or if already in an overdraft, so that they don't pay more interest than they need to. That was just the bank I worked for though. Ive been left a couple of years, but I worked there for more than seven years and this procedure never changed throughout that time. If Tesco do get their act together and process a refund, it usually takes 3 - 5 days for the money to credit the account, just the same amount of time between when the purchase was made and the money actually leaving the bank. If you check your bank statements it will normally tell you the auth date and the debit date. Its usually a few days different, but that just with the 2 banks that I bank with, I suppose that other banks may have different procedures. I'm astounded that people are being so mean spirited and downright cruel to the OP. If I had £60 missing from my account, I would be bloody furious and demand it was back in there. It makes no difference on the circumstances either, in my opinion. Why the hell should he have to wait ages for his money to be paid back to him, when it wasn't his fault in the first place?
