  1. Does anyone remember Ray Coles who worked at London Road for about 35 years up until 2001/2? He did a bit of everything over the years but was an electrician before he finished.
  2. Top of Fargate today was a brilliant acoustic guitarist.Round 1 ish. He was sat near Yorkshire bank. He had his own cds on sale but didn't catch the name -Anyone know his name? Saw Glass Caves further down near WHSmiths - but this bloke was so good. Yours hopefully.....
  3. Thanks for all the suggestions. Will just keep trying. Not been in my car today and haven't been bitten...yet!
  4. Anyone managed to get rid of fleas in their car and home? We don't have any pets but we've managed to get fleas in our car and house. This only started 5/6 weeks ago and co-incided with having a new carpet laid. Pest man thinks there's a possibility of an old carpet contaminated our new one:( we've had a pest control company spray the house last week but I was still getting bitten so they've returned to spray a different type. Thought I'd got bitten in the car so asked him to spray that too. Think I'm cross contaminating car and home. I know that fogging is next step in home but what about the car? Can you do that in a car?
  5. Hi, we have a two year old budgie that we would like to re-home. He's blue and white and chatters quite alot. He comes with a nice sized cage. We will be sad to see him go but when our new baby arrives we feel he might not get the attention he deserves. We have been looking for a suitable place to re-home him but no luck so far. He would be free to a good home, especially one who knows how to look after a budgie/small bird. I hope I haven't broken any forum rules by posting this! 7. Thankyou for this link! I am now in the process of starting my family tree! My great grandfather and great grandmother are buried there, along with my grandmother. Think they were part of the irish community around st vincents around 1920's ish? so I can't wait to see what unravels! I've also been told they are related to Joe fagin of Fagin's pub lot's to investigate! Thanks again for all your hard work!
  8. Hi, i had a similar experience. I usually send items recorded, but on this one occasion i didn't mainly because it was to someone in sheffield. She said item was never received and that she'd had a few parcels going missing recently:suspect:. I had proof of posting and i think on the post office claim form you cannot start the claim process until ? 28 days after posting. The whole thing go got a bit heated so i just gave her a refund to put an end to it all. So i was doubly out of pocket. Lesson learned and i have never sent an item without tracking or signed for since. Same happened to me twice ( not receiving goods paid for) and i was practically immediately refunded for one and the other i lost out on. I was told the item had a tracking number which surprise surprise didn't exist and then the traders disappeared. This was very frustrating as it was my first ebay purchase, thought i was protected by paypal but i'd been strung along for a month which in those days was too late to open a dispute. So i have seen it from both rubbish sides of the coin. Good luck!
  9. I turned up for a hair cut today and the doors were locked and the lights were off at 4 o'clock. Have they closed down for good?Take it they are another victim of the recession? Anyone any info?
  10. So sad. He was ruddy hilarious.
  11. Thankyou to the kind person who gave me and my car a shove after i got stuck at crookes cemetary today. Not the best place to get stuck. So Thankyou to you!
  12. I need a replacement colour coded car wing mirror cover for a 57 plate ford focus in ocean blue, passenger side. Looked online and it's a bit pricey. Anyone got any suggestions for local dealers/garages etc. I have the old one but it's got a huge crack in it. cheers in advance.
  13. Travelled to manchester to be sooo disappointed- thought i was at the wrong gig. What a change in direction?! People were leaving throughout the gig which was really depressing to see- not seen that since i saw the roses at ?reading years ago and the crowd were howling like werewolves to ian browns dulcet tones.:hihi:Awful awful awful.
  14. I saw zero 7 play plug a couple of years ago, maybe 3. sia sang as did, jose gozalez!! It was a fantastic gig.Agree that plug is a little difficult to find good spot to see the band. I also saw them in manchester before that and tina, sia and, erm, the other one and mozes all chipped in - it was such a great night. Unfortunately i'm going to see them in manchester as i didn't realise they were playing in sheffield:roll:so if by any chance four people with manchester tickets would like to swap for sheffield i'd be deeelighted
  15. i also saw a flock of them in walkley- we thought they were waxwings when we checked on the rspb site too.
  16. hi yes we paid for the full survey - 500 smackeroonies- and the problem started soon after we moved in in november last year! And we live at the top of a veeery big hill so fortunately didnt suffer from any flood damage.
  17. No we didn't suspect there was any damp as there was no evidence of it and we were pleasantly surprised that the survey said there wasn't any evidence of damp. And as someone has pointed out we would expect the surveyor to find evidence of damp whilst carrying out the survey. It didnt take long for the mould to appear once we moved in and are constantly cleaning it up. Thanks to all for your contributions- we will be investigating further!
  18. As the title says we bought a house in november last year which was all freshly painted inside - even the cellar (!)- in cream and its now evident that a massive damp problem has been painted over. There is black mould in our bedroom , on the stairs and in the kitchen and the cellar is covered in green slimey mould. The survey said there was no evidence of damp which made us raise our eyebrows at the time as the house is victorian and has never had a damp proof course. Even tiles have been painted over and are now black and all the sealant round the double glazing is black too. The damp problem would have made us think twice about buying as we have a small baby and are now worried about spores etc affecting babys health, never mind the disruption that will be caused correcting the damp. Does anyone have experience of this happening to them and is there any comeback for surveyor or previous owner if she knowingly painted over a huge damp problem?
  19. I too had a very difficult time breastfeeding. My baby wasnt interested at first (She had a difficult labour and was exhausted) and then when she was interested she was on for most of the hour every hour. Because of this i felt my baby was hungry, that i wasn't producing enough milk. This also meant that i became sore, cracked and bleeding. It was only when after a day or so at home that a midwife mentioned that my baby had tongue tie and that this was why she had problems latching on and perhaps wasn't feeding successfully. I was half upset and felt so sad for my baby and me, but half relieved that maybe it hadn't been my fault. After expressing for a few days to let myself heal up, my supply went down and used more and more formula feeds. My baby was a formula fed baby by about two weeks. I feel that both baby and me tried our best but it just wasn't to be and we were both much more settled at this point. But i still feel guilty and disappointed that i missed out on breastfeeding my baby. I think that if i had been told that not everyone can breastfeed - for whatever reason- i wouldn't have felt so guilty. I was always led to believe that breastfeeding - or not - was based on personal choice but this wasn't the case in my situation.
  20. theres a site called http://www.j600.com with loads of rift socks. Its really good for spotting fake rifts and lists fake rift sellers too.
  21. well i'm now 41weeks (!) and altogether have put on nearly 5 stone. I was 9 and a half stone pre preggers and last time i got weighed i was 14 st 4lb! I just hope running round after baby will and breastfeeding will help me lose most of the weight. I dont think i've ever weighed more than 10 st 10 lbs and have never had to diet in my life so not sure what to expect weight loss wise. does anyone else know of anybody who put on this much weight during pregnancy? And does this mean my baby might be on the large side?
  22. can anyone tell me where thay stock red raspberry leaf tea in sheffield-ta
  23. hello! i'm a size 9 too and have found a number of companies that go up to a size 9... http://www.tallgirls.co.uk seem to be the best i've found so far. Clarks do some styles in a size 9 but crystal peaks seems to be the only clarks in sheffield that stocks them. Next go up to a size 9. Magnus shoes have a web site and they go to a 9. Duo shoes and boots web site is good but a bit pricey.http://www.lushshoes.co.uk also has shoes up to a 9. barratts and dolcis go up to a 9 in some styles. i've also found that hush puppies in an 8 fit me and i'm a 9 so thay are worth trying on. Topshop also goes up to a 9 in some styles but i've found thay can be a little tight. Also shoezone at meadowhall stocks size 9s and they are very cheap and cheerful- i get my work shoes from there. Also faith have a size 9 section on their website. Jones the bootmaker stocks camper shoes - hope this helps...I hate having big feet and i'm currently expecting so they are even bigger than usual...NICE!
