  1. That's next on the governments list:help: ---------- Post added 12-02-2017 at 09:55 ---------- I bet your a right bugle of laughts - not
  2. Theirs also some an YouTube video showing the derelict inside complete with ceiling on the floor. The Burgoyne was an Stones house.
  3. I think the idea with the first camp at Park Hill flats in the derelict section was people living in tents but right next too them was former social housing left to rot that could be reused. I get why the camp was set up at that location the second could be making it more visible to the masses as they drive by . I agree homeless needs to be more addressed its not an easy problem to solve but dotted about Sheffield are buildings that could be reused for shelter.
  4. Not sure how to change the poll part to add moderation .
  5. Is alcohol good or bad for you and can you back it with scientific facts to back up your view point. Will in time alcohol go the same way has cigarettes and decline in popularity?
  6. I too thought it was an odd place to set up camp given their other spaces dotted about. Unless its to get publicity for homeless issues?
  7. Yes noticed that Park Gardeners Club was gone been told its going to be flats as well Seemed a shame didn't seem that old an building.
  8. List the benefits of alcohol and which is better from an health point of view beer vs whisky? ---------- Post added 10-02-2017 at 21:39 ---------- Well done no small achievement given the pressure to drink . Did you go to Heckington Manor ( Ferndowse Clinic) in Lincolnshire for rehabilitation ?
  9. A while back the 'Star ' paper reported that the Burgoyne Arms is slated for demolition been closed since 2008. Anyone on here a former regular has the building gone?
  10. On an more practical level does the charity pay towards the persons food things like that?
  11. I really don't understand the thinking on this thread . I've got nothing against specialized pubs its up to people on they are willing to pay for an pint but slating other pubs is not fair. On here I've read so and so pub is rubbish when visiting that pub only to find it alright. These so called beer lovers should be supporting the pub trade. Here's an classic case for you the locals told an landlord they wanted real ale so dutifully he ordered it . What happened no one brought one pint of it the barrel ended up down the drain so where was the real ale price no problem gang?
  12. At the bottom of the Moor is a centre for homeless people I think it used to be an mental health service at one time unfortunately I don't know the name of this service. In the window was an poster asking if people had an spare room if they would consider taking in a homeless person either permanently or temporarily. I simply don't have the room myself but proses an interesting question on how this works. What checks are done homeless or not no wants someone who causes nothing but problems . Has anyone done this?
  13. Rubbish- the real blame lies with pubco' s like Punch or the infamous Enterprise Inns they price their tenants out with sky high rents plus the having to buy from them at the above market price. The closure rates are increasing as pubco's sell off their pubs as no one wants to take them on I don't believe that every closed pub was a' crap hole' either what about Attercliffe was every one of the pubs that lined Attercliffe Road an total wreck or the other closed Sheffield pubs for that matter? Not every one wants to drink premium ales or craft or other fancy named beers at wallet busting prices for most people a night out beyond their reach like everything else in this country unless you have a job that pays over the odds Joe soap got managed on pea nuts to live on. So how can they afford six pounds or more for a pint of beer ?
  14. Who are these ' lot of people who will pay six pounds for a can' millionaire's perhaps? People only have so much money to spend if it was such an free for all why is it then pubs are closing down at the rate they are ? By your logical no matter how high the price is people should be ripping the doors off to get in I have yet to see that.
  15. Bell Vue is the next pub up from Durham Ox like you say looks like an conversion to a shop. The Wybourn been on the market for quite some time reduced a few times.
  16. Has anybody thought that six pounds a pint is simply way too much regardless of what been sold. One here couldn't even afford three pounds a pint when I used to drink let alone six !
  17. The Old Harrow opened in 1825 the Durham Ox was later . The Old Harrow closed in 2006 the Durham Ox 1993 had a little Google. I know a bit about the Ox but why the Harrow been left like it is a mystery .
  18. I've not been up Cricket Inn Road for sometime I know the ' Durham Ox ' has been long closed has an public house then used for site office for the construction of student accommodation blocks. Been past today its now even falling down on one part every window smashed and looks like an recent fire has taken place glass everywhere. The building looks beyond repair and now just an eyesore if you have kids keep them away its that bad now. It's a shame could have been turned into a shop or flats.
  19. Does anyone know if the Wentworth pub at Attercliffe is open in the day I've looked online but didn't find much. The comment I've found said it was closed on some days is it a sort of pub that opens when it wants ?
  20. Their was an pub opposite the Firwood Cottage the Bell Vue its now flats. Before anyone puts their hands into their pocket you need to view the books to see how trade is now and if it can be improved. One idea could be keep the public bar but turn the rest into flats if their is any land at the back big enough build perhaps an bungalow I'm not familiar this pub to know what is what just ideas.
  21. The two benefits are separate. Take the form to Citizens Advice the questions are not what they seem also go to Work and Benefits site its helpful. I know its hard don't let it play on your mind remember don't let grid you down with it.
  22. You can sow Cucumber seeds also tomatoe seeds and pepper seeds. Remember to cover the pots with insulation like with old towels.
  23. Attercliffe is a good spot a mix of old and new plus a bit of dereliction thrown in.
  24. He's only stating facts I too would like to why we keep sending Aid money to these countries. I've got an grandmother who has got Dementia we had to fight tooth and nail for her care while the government sends off millions a week overseas makes me really mad. ---------- Post added 05-02-2017 at 10:07 ---------- So an Will does not safeguard inherited property nor money they are craftie.
