  1. Jauntyone - unfortunately my grandmother is now dead but she was 92 when she died. I don't think the same sergeant would hve been there then!
  2. Yes you are right they are twins. It was theie younger brother Keith who was the year below me at school. Hazel went to King Ecgberts and when I went there in 1965 Hazel was in the 5th year.
  3. They have also held the Sheffield Show there.

I was at King Ecgberts in the 60's-70' and the houses then were (if I can remember correctly) St. Margaret St.Anne St Hilda St. Cecelia St. Joan There may have been another one but I can't remember (such a long time ago) They could also have changed when we went comp with Abbeydale in 1969 I think it was and thryintroduced BOYS. They probably wouldn't like all the female saints names.
  5. Bornand bred Neil and Hazel Proctor are my second cousins! Neil was in the year above me at school. Did you know Kev Elliott or Barbara Senior?
  6. I used to love Whitsuntide too!! Yes the new clothes and shoes. Did you have the little lacy nylon gloves to go with the bag that you collected your money in? (only the girls) We used to go to Meersbrook Park where my dad used to meet old schoolfriends once a year. Then we would go to the Red Lion pub and sit in the garden at the back and after as a real treat would go to Lin Hongs Chinese resaurant. I used to love it!!! It all changed when they changed the school holidays to Spring Bank which fell slightly different from the religious calendar - I think. Happy memories. p.s. I remember liberty bodices too.

  8. A boy from my old junior school (Lowfields) went to Newfield. His name was David Drew. I don't know if you know him.. My neighbour was P.E. teacher there - his name is Gordon Headley.
  9. I used to live at Duchess Road School. The back entrance was opposite the old Drill Hall. My grandmother used to wait on in the officers mess there years ago.
  10. Taggy's were opposite my grandparents house on View Road at Heeley but like many of you have said the houses have all been pulled down now and yes it was the best ice-cream!!
  11. My sister-in-law worked there in the 70's early 80's in personnel. Her name is Irene Wilson. She has lived in Majorca for the past 20 years!
  12. Chairboy, I remember a lot of those names. I wads there between 1965 and 1972.
  13. At one time S.U.T. was based on Olive Grove Road, opposite the bus depot.
  14. A friend of mine went to Heeley Bank in the 60's. Her name was Jane Clayton. Do you remember her?
  15. Yes I went to Lowfield school but a long, long time ago -1962 - 1965!
  16. Yes. What memories! I remember Harry Stocks, Riaf Caldicott and Dave Fell (he was an instructor)
  17. The silver blades ice-rink openend in 1963. I think the heartbeat was there then, but at any rate it wouldn't have been there earlier.

  21. I'm in on this too. I can,t seem to get into the spirit of things this year, but I don't know why.
  22. I don't think they know who the keyholder is! My son WAS a key holder and has been contacted on numerous occasions by both police and fire service but he has been left there fo about 3 years!!
  23. I didn't start there until Sept 65. Do you remember Jane Geddes or Mary Tyrell. I think they may have been in the 5th year then?
