  1. Sorry, you can't burn it as an audio CD because it's too long. If you've got a player that plays mp3s off CD you'll be fine. I intentionally kept it below 160 mins though so that it could be split into two parts for 80 min audio CD. If you need it doing, let me know, but I won't have time until the end of this month. Thanks for all the other comments
  2. Be nice if you could put it on before half ten next time I'm in though!
  3. Yeah... flash mob Brass Disk  Kerrrrmon!!!!!!
  4. Does that matter? I've drunk Doom Bar in Rock (where it's made) and in Sheffield, not to mention several other places. It's very consistent and imho a decent enough pint.
  5. Seeing as Osborne wants pension funds to invest in infratructure, this might be a good time to put ideas forward (there are more than enough members on here to get a 100K petition up). My thoughts are: 1. The railway tunnels are nowhere near big enough. You wouldn't even get two lanes of HGVs through, never mind a motorway. 2. It would probably be cheaper, and have less environmental impact, to widen Woodhead. 3. Would it achieve anything? Average speeds between Sheffield and Manchester are tedious, but total journey time is much less than comparable cities in say France or Germany, let alone China or the US. Our economy needs more than a few extra lanes of traffic to get it sorted.
  6. True, but only if you've already got the app. Searching the app store, checking reviews to find a good one, downloading a couple and finding they're no good etc etc takes rather longer. For anything you're going to do more than once or twice I would agree go for an app. I do like the voice dictation though, which seems to be part of Siri, in the sense that it only works if Siri is on.
  7. It's definitely being watched. Check out those dodgy peeps at the bus stop http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ll=53.379477,-1.51996&spn=0.000003,0.00327&t=m&vpsrc=0&layer=c&cbll=53.379428,-1.520095&panoid=nJfUHoTvYUqQo223HE_VCA&cbp=12,241.33,,0,-0.21&z=19
  8. I agree. It just seems to be an excuse for antisocial behaviour nowadays. At least this year there was no wind so I didn't wake up to a car and garden liittered with burnt out chemicals. Hope the OP's friend gets everything sorted on the insurance.
  9. Siri as such is not that great, but having the mic symbol on the "keyboard" is excellent. I've spent all day dictating emails and texts (and my shopping list) with very few mistakes. It's definitely quicker than typing but I don't think I'll be doing it on the train (and certainly not when driving - apart from being illegal it's extremely dangerous). As regards the original question I've upgraded from a 3GS and there's a noticeable but maybe not massive difference e.g. better display, better camera, big apps load faster, better shape (doesn't want to jump out your hand all the time!). So far the battery life has been pretty good as well - about 18 hours with normal usage. My choice of iPhone over Android was purely due to the availability of certain apps which I use a lot, e.g. Memory Map, but overall I've been happy with the decision.
  10. And you obviously didn't get as far as "I have read over recent years many articles about investment in Burngreave and various projects. Does Burngreave get it's fair share of investment and would money make it a safer place to live??. Would you be happy to invest money in the area?. " before you butted in.
  11. Thanks for that rant. If you bother reading it, you'll see this thread is about a claimed lack of investment in Burngreave, not about the recent murder.
  12. The man quoted in the Star says "compared to other more affluent areas we get nothing". Apart from Burngreave, Don Valley and the city centre I'm struggling to think of any part of Sheffield that's had substantial (or any) public investment over the last ten years. I'm certainly not aware of anything in the South or West of the city. Have I forgotten something?
  13. Thanks, just seen your post. Hope you like it.
  14. Happy to stand corrected as I haven't used Audacity but my a/v didn't like your link and I've certainly had problems in the past with free software.
  15. I assume you mean Audacity? Most free sound editors have some sort of spyware or adware. For the hassle they cause you're better off just stumping up ÂŁ45 for Sound Forge Audio Studio.
  16. This may be of interest to someone? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-shropshire-15409182
  17. OK, good to go now. Apologies to those who've already dl'd it once.
  18. Thanks for the comments. I've just noticed one of the mixes wasn't right, so I've re-done that one, timestretched it to fit and pasted it back in (yes I know that's cheating but I want it right!). I'll re-up it shortly.

  20. Yes it was 20 years ago today (but on a Saturday obviously) that the legendary Jam Factory kicked off it’s brief but brilliant stay at the Palais. To commemorate the occasion I’ve put another tribute mix together. This time it’s just over two and a half hours long, so if you went in after the pubs turned out, this would see you through to closing with time for “just one more”. Chumley's Jam Factory 20th Anniversary Mix All these tunes were being played out in late September ’91 so who knows – if an infinite number of monkeys did an infinite number of mixes with this selection, maybe one of them would be an exact recreation of that opening night. This almost certainly isn’t but hopefully it will bring back some happy memories anyway. Big hats off to Green, Solid State, anyone else connected with JF who might be reading and everyone who made it such a great place to be on a Saturday night. This is also going on Old Skool Anthemz – if you like your old tunes and you haven’t registered yet, get yourself over there.
