  1. Interesting how a post about anti-social youths degenerates into a slanging match. Perhaps the problem is a lack of role models!
  2. I nicked my neighbour's wind chime and put it up in my garden. Let's see how he likes it!
  3. Not sure it ticks the "decent views" box though, unless you like terraced cottages.
  4. If you want authentic, freshly cooked Italian food, try Bella Napoli on Abbeydale Road. It's small and intimate and BYO. You might wait a bit longer than some places because the kitchen is small but that gives you plenty of time to tell the gf how good she's looking on her birthday
  5. The Greyhound at Higham is worth a visit. Marston's, decent food, well kept beer garden, good views across the valley towards Tibshelf. The Barrel is great but really needs more tables outside.
  6. Oh, you mean this? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Fruit_flies.jpg
  7. As it happens I saw the camera van heading up that way around lunchtime (going out of town past Tesco Express). Don't know if he actually parked up.
  8. "Mathematics" can be either singular (the group of sciences which includes algebra, geometry and calculus) or plural (functions involved in the solution of scientific problems). So "maths is" and "maths are" are both correct, however in the context used I would think the former is more appropriate
  9. The only place the camera sets up round there is Twentywell Lane. Judging by the rubber strips they'll be back again soon. I think they'd be more usefully employed on the stretch between Dore station and Totley Rise.
  10. Ant Stop Bait Station. Generally works in a day, doesn't make a mess, doesn't need topping up. Bit sad to see how eagerly they get it back to the nest but that's life I guess. To answer the original question, the council only deal with rats free of charge, anything else you have to pay for.
  11. You're welcome (sorry no pics from me as I never get round to putting them online). I've been to many different parts of Greece (as I'm sure many others on here have) so if you have any particular criteria for a holiday let us know and I'm sure there'll be an island or region that suits you
  12. Except that eyewitness shouldn't be hyphenated. If it was written correctly as "one eyewitness", it wouldn't look odd.
  13. Fair comment. Let's focus on the evidence. 1. The driver in question has a small p3n1s (he drives a CLK cabrio). 2. He has a glass back (he parks in a disabled bay). 3. He's almost blind (he can't see the signs saying "No parking on the grass") 4. He has a small brain (he uses a mobile whilst driving). He is clearly very deserving of a special parking space. Meanwhile, very ordinary people who just happen to have, say, missing limbs, will have to park in the far corners to make room for him.
  14. As others have said it's very nice. A few decent beach resorts on the south east side, massive volcanic cliffs on the west. We also hired quad bikes but bear in mind accidents are not uncommon and many travel insurance policies won't cover you. For things to do and see: - a couple of interesting museums/archaeological sites - some nice beaches, including red beach (the clue's in the name) - stunning volcanic scenery - some very chic shops and bars in Thira - a good choice of reasonably authentic Greek food - the sunsets at Oia (they're better than ukdobby says and largely account for Oia having one of the highest per metre property prices in the world) - dormant volcano and hot springs at Nea Kameni, the island that used to be the centre of Santorini before it blew up around 3,600 years ago - some interesting wineries where you can sample the local vinsanto dessert wines If you're into quadrupeds, I would recommend horse riding on the beach and a donkey trip round Thira as well (hold on tight and agree a price first). In fact I enjoyed it so much I think I might go back this summer. @Saffy - nice pics, thanks for sharing.
  15. The guy's obviously got an attitude problem. He probably only parked on the grass because there are two signs telling you not to. More deserving of pity than scorn I would have thought.
  16. I haven't got children but friends have used Scallywags on Moncrieffe Road and I think were happy with them. Not sure about ages but they have a babies and toddlers group, so might be what you're looking for.
  17. Don't know but lots in the news about petrol queues. Could be news teams?
  18. I once complained at a Tibetan restaurant because the spare ribs were just bones in sauce. The staff were very upset and I dread to think what they put in the sweet and sour chicken I ordered as a replacement. They also charged me for both meals. Not wanting to make another scene (and because the chef came out looking very cross) I just paid up and kept quiet
  19. I doubt any wasps are building nests yet and if they are they'll only contain a few. More likely you've had some queens hibernating and the warm weather's just woken them up, hence why they're big and dozy. If there are any left, most of them will fly elsewhere to build nests but you might get one staying behind. Keep an eye on things for another month or six weeks and if you have got a nest, follow sibon's advice, but be very careful. The nest will be built where it's accessible from outside the shed, so tackle it from there. Unless you have somewhere to take cover after treating the nest (say a car or someone else's shed) I would suggest you call in a professional. The council do a very good service for around £45, less if you receive housing benefit, income support etc.
  20. It always pays to remember that 50% of drivers have below average intelligence. Assume they will behave accordingly.
  21. Thanks again for the comments, much appreciated.
  22. Turns out we had a letter saying someone would call but Mrs C chucked it in the shredder.
  23. Just had someone knocking on the door claiming to be doing interviews with selected households on behalf of Defra. Told him I'm far too busy (which I am) but thought it was a bit odd. Has anyone else had this?
  24. Sorry, you can't burn it as an audio CD because it's too long. If you've got a player that plays mp3s off CD you'll be fine. I intentionally kept it below 160 mins though so that it could be split into two parts for 80 min audio CD. If you need it doing, let me know, but I won't have time until the end of this month. Thanks for all the other comments
  25. Be nice if you could put it on before half ten next time I'm in though!
