  1. I was in the car park at Abbeydale Road, loading my shopping into the boot of my car, when I realised I wasn't alone. I looked round and there, barely two feet away, was a fox looking up at me menacingly (well, hopefully to be fair). Luckily I also have sharp pointy teeth, so I snarled and it wandered off nonchalantly to find another victim. Should we blame the hunting ban or just the cold weather?
  2. I doubt it. They probably send someone out on Oxford Street and interview 100 tourists.
  3. Too busy to do another mix. Might just bake a cake lol
  4. Most UK places I've been Toyota diesels seem to be the car of choice. On the continent it's always E-class Mercs. What does that tell you?
  5. 97 or 98 every 10 mins during the day from High Street, Pinstone Street, Charter Row or Fitzwilliam Gate (bottom of The Moor). Both go to the Tesco Express at the bottom of Devonshire Road. 97 carries on to the terminus on Baslow Road, 98 goes up Totley Brook Road and back down Furniss Avenue.
  6. Hi Richard Good luck with the project. Have you tried the RSPB website? You can search for nature reserves by keyword, eg bird name. For ospreys I think Rutland Water is as good as anywhere. Also good for marsh harriers.
  7. Damn. If only we had the detaiks. And the missing apostrophe.
  8. Try gocompare. What's cheap for someone else won't necessarily be cheap for you. Me and Mrs C are both insured for each other's cars but we always end up with different insurers to get the best premiums
  9. Saw lots of ladies reading this on the beach last couple of weeks. Had to chuckle at one cos her hubby was reading Model Rail magazine - think she might be waiting a long time for her dreams to come true
  10. Except they charge a handling fee. Cost of 500 euros today: - ICE online £403.41 - My Travelex Cash Passport £400.80 (online top up rate) And as I said, I don't need to wait in for the delivery. Amex is only £400.10 but I'd need to go into town to fetch them.
  11. I've started using a Travelex Cash Passport (Master Card). The rate is not quite as good as the best, but only around E0.005 worse. The advantages are: - you don't have to go anywhere to pick up your currency (which offsets the better rate at say the Amex shop) - you don't have to wait in for delivery - you can top up online free of charge with a debit card - there are no ATM charges - you can load as much as you want and just take out what you need, so there's no need to carry lots of cash - you can also use it to pay in shops and restaurants. Overall I've found it easier, cheaper and less risky than either carrying loads of cash or using a debit/credit card. The only drawback is if you want to get back any unused euros it costs £6 - not a problem if you travel regularly.
  12. 73% of statistics are made up. Probably more on this forum.
  13. Points made!!! If you do it yourself be very careful, especially using one cutting compound after another. My last car had a permanent dull patch after I overdid it.
  14. Mine is up for renewal with CUSC at £66. To be honest I'm wondering whether to bother as there are so many exclusions. For example "loss" is only covered if the phone is "concealed on your person" and "not left unattended". Bit difficult to see how you could lose it in those circumstances! Also "theft" is only covered if force or threat is used. In other words, they don't cover theft at all, only burglary and robbery. If you claimed within the first year it would cost around £115-140 (premium plus excess) so is that really worth it even for a £500 phone? In other words, is the chance of a valid claim (as opposed to no claim or an excluded claim) greater than c25% - I think probably not.
  15. I haven't once criticised this car wash. I've driven past it a few times and for all you know I might have actually used it. I just question why you join an internet forum and then go out of your way to fall out with people? Oh sorry, forgot to add :loopy:
  16. I think there was a programme on the telly about Greece last week or the week before, about all the tax dodges. Does anyone know the title and channel please? Was it just a repeat of "Go Greek for a Week" from last November? Cheers
  17. Thought you said it wasn't your car wash? And can't you post without adding to the end? :
  18. You can also buy feeder poles with a plastic squirrel baffle (similar to an upturned wok). You can then put various hanging or tray feeders on the top. It works fine as long as you don't leave anything close enough for the squirrels to use as a launching pad. Once they're on top of the baffle they're in!
  19. Had that problem all day yesterday but it seems to be OK now.
