vellatutchai   10 #97 Posted June 17, 2014 Anyone out there reccommend a good solicitor that doesn't charge an arm and leg for conveyancing. My family and I are going to live In another house and need to sell our current property. We are not buying another, just selling one. Katie K Â Â 10 #98 Posted June 18, 2014 Although they are cheap I would not recommend Firth Lyndsay. We have recently bought a house where the seller used them as the conveyancer and they were very very slow, unhelpful and not always truthful. mrmw   10 #100 Posted June 18, 2014 We're first time buyers and might nearly be at the point where our offer is accepted (waiting with baited breath!). So it's time to start thinking about a solictor. Any recommendations anyone has would be a big help (on the flip side, feel free to mention those to avoid too!) Thanks Nick  we were very UNHAPPY with the service received from Taylor & Emmett... Jeffrey Shaw   90 #101 Posted June 18, 2014 we were very UNHAPPY with the service received from Taylor & Emmet. That's quite unusual; most feedback about them is positive.
 Share this content via...
skinnermann   10 #102 Posted June 20, 2014 Seriously, Just pick one that's reasonably priced and cross your fingers. We are currently buying and selling - accepted an offer in March - and have just found out our buyers haven't even had their mortgage approved, even though our solicitor has always insisted they have. Also, Their solicitor is unbelievably slow and extremely evasive - and BOTH of these clowns have been recommended on this forum. Everyone has different experiences of the same firms - bit of a lottery. Hope it works out for you.
 Share this content via...
coopertron   10 #103 Posted December 2, 2014 I'm afraid I have to add to the list of bad experiences received from Taylor and Emmet.  A simple no chain sale to a first time buyer was held up by them unduly, what should have been 6 weeks took nearer to 13. A constant stream of excuses, and lack of explanation on what was happening did not amuse (when you could reach them).  I wrote a complaint to them and received a semi-apologetic response from one of the partners along with a small compensation amount, so I accepted that and drew a line under the whole sorry mess, but I would never use them for conveyancing, and I could not recommend them to my worst enemy.  They might be fantastic in other areas however. aliceBB Â Â 10 #106 Posted February 4, 2015 Walker Foster in Ilkley. Although they are not Sheffield-based (conveyancers do not need to be local these days, it is all done by phone and email), they are excellent - very efficient and good value.
