Solicitors you would recommend for conveyancing? Megathread NO QUOTES

Hi - very new to house buying but have received a quote from my solicitor for £2,405.80 - includes search fees and stamp duty (£1,600) plus a fee of £375 for solicitors charges..This seems ok to me but to be fair I wouldn't have a clue! Any thoughts?

Anyone who acts for you and refers to 'Stamp Duty' [abolished 2003 for property] ought to be suspected of other inaccuracies too.

Stamp Duty Land Tax is a wholly different regime. SDLT of £1600 would be applicable for a purchase price of £160 000 [@ 1%].

Hi

We have just moved and we used Stan Wringley from Pennine Law. They have two offices, one in Penistone and one in Hoyland. Stan has been fantastic as we had a lot of problems with the sellers solicitor not providing the correct information and taking an age in doing anything. I can highly reccomend Stan and Pennine Law.
