Cyclunt 60 #13 Posted October 12, 2023 Theres also the morality of mining Lithium and Cobalt. News reports say its heavily dependent on borderline slave labour to mine it. I don't suppose Mr and Mrs Posh will care when their new electric car is delivered
 Share this content via...

Dardandec 32 #15 Posted October 12, 2023 No going back now, governments world wide are pushing for EV's and car manufactures have spend billions developing them. I once met a training guy who specialised in bike mechanic training, used to develop for Kawasaki. He told me there was a massive problem in Germany with house fires due to people charging their cars with dodgy extension cables etc.
 Share this content via...

Hybrid and it was the lithium battery started the fire nothing to do with diesel.
 Share this content via...
Organgrinder 1,946 #18 Posted October 13, 2023 I believe in going green but said long ago that electric cars alone can never be the answer. Add that to the fact that our electricity is not green anyway and, at this rate of progress, won't be for a very long time.
 Share this content via...

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that model only had Hybrid's with Petrol engines and not Diesel.
 Share this content via...

If you search Ebay, it brings up 900 petrol/diesel to only 25 hybrids, so you are just guessing against the odds.
 Share this content via...

It's a known problem, pretty much all RORO shipping companies flat out refuse to take a used EV, only accepting one straight from the factory. Same goes for the battery packs. When they do go up, it's a big problem. 1 hour ago, El Cid said: If you search Ebay, it brings up 900 petrol/diesel to only 25 hybrids, so you are just guessing against the odds.
