Only thing is, her party have been in power for over a decade, and she created or voted for many of the measures. It's a dangerous, career ruining business, voting against your own party when you disagree with something they're doing. As Jeremy Corbyn found out. But in a democratic system, that shouldn't be the case. The conclusion is a system that is flawed beyond redemption. As for Penny Mordent, she is absolutely right. Has the penny dropped at last?
 Share this content via...
Cyclecar 24 #18 Posted January 18, 2023 I have always liked Mordaunt. She comes across as honest, practical, and realistic. And she has a sense of humour. But she is spot on when she says that the truly disadvantaged, such as the disabled and the elderly, are sidelined by those with an 'agenda'' and sharp elbows such as environmental activists and gender issues. They are invariably media savvy and make themselves busy. The recent national census found that the LGBT dimension in the UK is 3.1% of the population , and of course their voices should be heard, but others with weaker voices are being sidelined. Well said, Penny.
 Share this content via...

Today’s HoC debate and vote about mass repealing 4,000-and-crumbs “EU laws” (a) goes to the heart of the thread topic , and (b) goes some way to explain why that ‘if this was countries in Europe’ is pretty unlikely. What is not explainable, is why nobody in the UK seems to be kicking any fuss about it (over and above those striking for better pay and conditions…the right to which was just voted away, not coincidentally). 2024 is a long way away still, so the ‘Poorest who Think The System Is Rigged Against Them’…ain’t seen nothing yet I’m afraid.
 Share this content via...

They are to blame for a lot of things. In relation to this thread, they are specifically to blame for the poorest thinking that the system is rigged against them. They should concentrate on that rather than on making number 10 into a venue for the Hokey Cokey.
 Share this content via...
