Martin C 85 #1 Posted October 31, 2022 Flood alert for Upper River Don catchment River levels are rising on the River Don and River Loxley due to heavy, persistent showers which are expected to continue through the night. Areas most at risk include River Don and its tributaries from Penistone to Kelham Island in Sheffield. We currently expect rivers to peak in the early hours of Tuesday morning (1/11/2022). We will continue to monitor the forecast and re-issue this alert if necessary. Please avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and do not attempt to walk or drive through flood water. Please be aware that localised surface water flooding is possible. This message will be updated by 09:00 AM on 01/11/2022, or as the situation changes. Because that water comes from reservoirs that are all recording extremely low levels of water and need a lot more than a few hours of heavy rain over the next few months to reach a normal level where we won't be facing be facing water shortages next summer.
 Share this content via...

Which could easily be solved by building more dams. This has been known for many years and the population has continued rising without any investment being made at all. Rising population means more people drinking, bathing & showering and more people using toilets and yet, the same water provision as more than 100 years ago. Couple this with weather change patterns and it's easy to see why none of our governments are fit to govern. They are just there to fill their pockets! 1
 Share this content via...

They are just there to fill their pockets! however at the same time the demands for water from big industry has fallen massively, I have no idea if this is enough to mitigate the population increase but must not be forgotten before we start flooding more valleys. If we need to then we need to but lets be sure first.
 Share this content via...
