Hiya Sheila, Been recalling some past events with me brother

that lived on corner of Hunsley St. Where i lived in Hunsley St

right across from me to them houses up steps was an elderly

couple Mr & Mrs Brighthouse just a few houses down from them

was a coloured family.

The chap got stuck on the roof and was shouting for help while

the Fire Brigade arrived, Guess what- he approuch the job via the

attic and climb onto the roof top and began to repair the slate's.

He completed the job only to find out he could get back.

Can you remember it. :hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi::hihi:

If this happened around #71 Hunsley St ,maybe the elderly couple was Mr & Mrs Brightmore , my wifes aunt & uncle

--------------

Hi, It was my brother that mentioned about the chap on the roof, and

yes it was the Brightmore's and not Brighthouse as said.

I didn't no them very much only to say how do although they did

live opposite me, very nice couple.

Could year 1970/71 could be that.

Hi Brian, You forgot Paul in the line-up, he comes between Alan & Carl. They`re all married with families except Carl but he`s got a `partner` (if you know what I mean), so there`s not likely to be a family there:hihi:

Dennis was always good with animal/birds etc. and one of his jobs as a lad was at Mace`s pet shop and when he was in Singapore in the army he was a dog handler. He kept pigeons as well. I`ll ask him about the injured bird and I bet he says "which one?" Vee

-------------------

Hi Corney, Denis was easy going he was a great guy, when i left

Hunsley St we went to live on Southey Hill, i couldn't believe it

when Denis and family come to live 4 door from me having just

had them living next door at the old address. Hi Hi.

------------------

Hi Sheila, When Barry started is business for himself 1969

he decorated for lady across from him in Hunsly St, you had to go up

the steps and it was the first house on the corner near the last bus stop

at terminus, then bus use to back up Hunsley St and turn round back

onto Petre St

She had blonde hair but i dont recall her he said Sheila might know.

Think it could have been Mary Shaw. There was two houses in the yard as you got off the bus from town,Her and Minnie Benson both houses came onto Hunsley St opposite your Barry's house. But more inclined to think it was Mary, she was the corner house.

Hi Bri & Sheila the people that lived up the steps where you got off the bus was a Mrs Ashmore I think she was a widow and lived there with her daughter when she got married they lived there for a while before they moved, that was in the middle fifties. My aunt & uncle lived in the houses on the left where the bus backed up same yard as the Procters. Jean J

Thanks hillsbro for showing that and reminding me what number my brother Dennis lived at (56). Maybe you could link me to Dover Street, S3, then I can remember some of my neighbour`s names a little better as they`re a bit vague now. I lived there between 1953 and 1966. I hope you can help.

I knew Bernard Simmonite at #28, I worked for his brother Fred, Bernard and a mate had a haulage business, they had a couple of ex army Canadian Dodge trucks, if I remember rightly the steering might have been on the opposite side.

Hi Bri & Sheila a few names I can bring to mind: Emily Green was a hairdresser & worked with Dorothy Fletcher on Carlisle Rd she had a son Peter who trained to be a butcher with Jack Asher, I think he married a Pam Axleby and later opened his own shop in the Southy Green area. Harry Wood (my uncle) lived at no 48 his 1st wife (my aunt) Elsie died 1947 -1950 he remarried and had a family. Proctor's lived at no 52 I remember a son Tommy & a daughter Jennifer I think Sheila will be able to fill you in a bit more. Sheila the name Minnie Benson rings a bell but can't put a face to it.
