cat631
Brilliant photo`s can just see the old gun plant in the mist on the photo looking down Hunsley street. Does anyone recall a bad accident outside St Thomas`s church, according to my brother a truck`s brakes failed as it came over the brow of the hill on Holywell. I can`t remember supposedly late fifties. Your brother is correct except the accident was in the early fifties. The lorry driver veered into the graveyard wall in an attempt to stop it but unfortunately struck a group of people stood by the gate. As far as I know a lady was killed as she pushed a child in a pram out of the way. The scratches caused by the lorry wheels are still visible.http://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah188/Subby631/LeaningWall_zps383130ea.jpghttp://i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah188/Subby631/WallScratches_zpse729d9d2.jpg Edited October 9, 2014 by cat631

pigeon
Hi Brian and rf2690, yes, it is Bland Street. Can't recall Dennis Archer I'm afraid. Here's a link to a pic looking across Carlisle Road up Hunsley Street. The part of Carlisle Road to the left, as I'm sure you know, was known locally as Crown Hill after the name of the pub which was down there. I remember the buses leaning over alarmingly when taking the tight adverse camber right hand bend to go from Carlisle Road to Hunsley Street. http://www.picturesheffield.com/frontend.php?keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;s20995&pos=3&action=zoom&id=23491 Here's a pic taken in the opposite direction. http://www.picturesheffield.com/frontend.php?keywords=Ref_No_increment;EQUALS;u04792&pos=5&action=zoom&id=39878 Peter. Did Harry Wattem have his yard down there near the Gorden family
