No, its a direct result of the covid pandemic. That is why inflation is going up globally and by around the same margin and it's only happened since covid started to take an effect.

It really isn't. German and French inflation is running at roughly 3%.

Excessive UK inflation might be caused by Brexit,  Or by endlessly printing money.  But not Covid.

In any case, who has been in charge through these  events? Who sets fiscal policy?

Shouldn't that be the EU after all it is a trading block and a term frequently used to describe the EU. France are the odd one out as that does stand at around 3%. Germany's CPI however is a little higher than the UK at around 5.2%.

Rubbish and you know it. It may coincide with Brexit but but has its grounding with the current covid situation and that's why the Euro Area  on average has also got similar high inflation at around 5%.

Some UK inflation history as well showing that it has hardly changed over the past 12 years until covid started taking hold.

Fiscal policy does not take into account sudden excessive rises in petrol, oil, gas or electricity which have been the main drivers in higher inflation rates, and the effects of that would have happened whoever was in charge.

Boris's position is untenable and he needs to go.

No doubt he won't do the honourable thing and resign but will try to brazen it out so it will be up to the powers behind him to push him.

When Dominic Cummings made his infamous 'Barnard Castle eye test' press conference in the 10 Downing Street rose garden, people were wondering 'this is just not credible', why doesn't Boris Johnson just sack him?'

Well Johnson couldn't sack him, because Cummings knew that Johnson was knee deep in parties in breach of lockdown rules.

Who else also knew about these parties?

The former editor of the Sun newspaper, David Yelland tweeted yesterday:

The BBC's political editor Laura Kuennsberg tweeted yesterday

What did Laura know, and when?

Why has all of this taken 18 months to come out.

Serious questions of journalists need to be asked....

Also, there are police at Downing Street who appear to have turned a blind eye for this while their colleagues were zealously applying the law to the commoners. Cressida Dick's knighthood had better be worth it.

Given the battering Labour got for the global financial crash that wasn't of their making, it would poetic if the Tories got a bashing for another global economic problem that's out of their control.

It wasn't a police matter because people were allowed to go to their place of work and social distance in outside areas.  The fuss the media have created over this is unbelievable.  Even more so that it happened twenty months ago.  This is another incident where someone has stirred trouble most likely because they weren't happen with something or someone  unconnected at work.

Having drinks and nibbles in the garden is hardly work.
