They would probably love the opportunity to live like us but because of birth they have a duty which they undertake.

Duty that isn't exactly onerous, is it.

What do you mean by "live like us"? Go to work every day? Maybe night shifts at an Amazon warehouse, is that the opportunity they would love to have?

If the royals wealth were to be seized by the state not one penny of it would find it’s way to the rank and file.

Yeah, but I doubt if Meghan and Harry would have settled for a semi-detatched in Bolton, rather than the high life in the USA.

The idea that they want to live like the majority of us is a none starter...

Yes your right, not living like us but not living like Royals either.

Precisely.

Like when they put the bus fares up from 10 pence for any journey we did not get a reduction in our taxes.

Boris and his Cronies would have first dibs. :suspect:

Not everyone works night shifts at Amazon many people have jobs and social lives they thoroughly enjoy.

Correct, so feel free to define "live like us". At what level do you think any member of the royal family would like to "live like us". Night shifts at Amazon? Double shifts at Maccy D's? Behind the perfume counter at John Lewis? Call centre?

Or maybe something a bit less taxing, just like they do now.

I think you're kidding yourself if you think they want to give up the gilded lifestyle they currently lead. What they might want is the lifestyle without any public duties or scrutiny.

"Like to live like us" encompasses not being under public scrutiny and criticism for all their lives.

Being free to live their lives without the responsibilities of Royal duties and needing protection officers to accompany them at times.

You seem to think "live like us" only includes the type of jobs you mention in your post but there are many other desirable alternatives including doctor, politician, newspaper editor etc.

Harry’s  personal protection costs must be immense, Megan  is irrelevant, if they can’t protect their President, Harry is of no importance.

Interesting. From what I've heard Harry iis not exceptionally bright. Without the contacts and the plum in the mouth, I doubt Harry would have got any of the above jobs. Maybe a role in a call centre is about his level.

Would he give it all up, be without protection officers etc for that salary?

He would probably be happier in the Army, (no commisions, he has to earn them which I think he probably would,) but I'm not sure Meghan would enjoy being an Army wife....

We have a unelected head of state and a unelected House of Lords , so how can we call our Country  a democracy .

Only problem,

You've done your best, decided working silly shifts and the forever changing timetable at ASOS (etc) is not for you.

You've worked your way up the food chain to become your own Boss, Doctor, Politician, Newspaper Editor / owner, employ several, even 100's of people, sent the kids to a better school, bought yourself a rather nice house and an E type / Merc / Roller.

Don't get too complacent  that knock on the door is the Homeless people designated to live in your spare bedrooms.

By the way, you've amassed too many heirlooms, they're off to the peoples museums  :loopy: .

(PS;)  E types are plenty roomy , try getting in and out of a Lotus Elise 🙃.

See the source image

Note the high sill & low seat then try imagining getting out  8)
