I see Trump has reversed his position on Afghanistan now and is committing more troops. The US is still trapped by their terrible decision to stoke the conflict in Afghanistan in the 1980s and then walk away having littered the country with landmines and assisted in the destruction of Afghan agriculture. Now they are terrified to leave it alone for fear of what will happen while their back is turned, yet reluctant to stay and particiapte in an eternal conflict. That said, I'm beginning to twig why he keeps doing these rallies, it's very light on facts but keeps his core voters whipped up and on side. He effectivly starting his re-election now.

Strangely, the Trumpet is targeting other Republicans and members of his own government as a threat and attacking them instead of the Democrats, presumably in an attempt to run unopposed as Republican nominee for the next election.

He started months ago: he officially filed his re-election application with the Federal Elections Commission on the day of his inauguration, and has been running re-election funding dinners at $35k a plate ever since.

 

If he can last the political distance, 4 years is plenty enough to have vested interests pocketed in that time, clear the room enough to install a self-perpetuating, officialised kleptocracy. Just ask Putin and Erdolf.
