Police ignoring drug dealers

Recommended Posts

I would ban the sale of all tobacco products because of the harm they do.

Ok, so your position is to ban all drugs (except medicine ones I presume?) including alcohol and nicotine based on the harm they do? That's fine. It's a completely different position to mine but at least it's not hypocritical like most who want things they don't use illegal but stuff they do legal without even the hint of irony.

I would not ban alcohol but would police it as in years gone by.

Reintroduce specified opening times.

Police checks in pubs to check for underage drinkers and drunkenness.

Clamp down on public drunkenness.

Only sell alcohol, for home consumption, in off licences.

This is what I don't understand. Why keep alcohol legal but ban cigarettes? Alcohol does more damage than smoking.

I would disagree on the relative damage done.

Tobacco can damage a person's health over a period of time causing dreadful health problems.

Alcohol can cause problems due to drunkenness to the user and others.

Alcohol can cause health problems if used to excess.

Due to the socialising aspects of alcohol being drunk in pubs and causing no harm in most cases I think it will always continue to be drunk.

Smoking is an addictive habit whose only pleasure is relieving the craving.

Yet science and evidence says the exact opposite that alcohol is FAR more harmful than smoker. So based on your answers given in this thread I can assume you don't smoke, but don't drink. It's always so obvious.

Wrong.

I have seen more damage caused to more people by smoking than drinking.

I used to smoke but stopped and I do enjoy a drink.

You make wrong assumptions.

Do you agree with my suggestions in post 168.

If you are so in favour of people taking substances which are currently illegal why haven't you tried them ?

I can no longer be bothered with this conversation. I have been pretty clear in my opinion, have given examples of why I think like this which are based upon what medical SCIENTISTS have said rather than my own narrow minded anecdotes. You have now resorted to trying to attribute things to me that I've never said because you unable to separate a logical argument in favour of legalising drugs to actually reduce their usage and the damage they do and me being in favour of taking them. I'm more than happy to have a decent discussion with someone who disagrees with me, but not when they don't seem to be able to follow a simple argument.

And actually, I clearly haven't made wrong assumptions have I? You've just said that you don't smoke but do drink which was EXACTLY what I said. Wasting my time now. Have a good day.

Apologies! I put a typo in my post, ho ho ho....how to make yourself look silly on a thread accusing someone else of not being to read...what I meant was, you don't smoke, but DO drink...the sentence reads pretty odd if I'd meant to say 'don't smoke, but don't drink' as that's a v bizarre sentence construct.
